On Tuesday night’s episode of Married At First Sight, we saw groom Mat Lockett walk away from his marriage to Alycia Galbraith, leaving her in tears.
And while he voted to stay in the relationship at the commitment ceremony on Sunday night, it was clear that his heart wasn’t in it anymore.
“I don’t know where the Mat that I married went,” Alycia, 28, told TheFix. “He disappeared, and it was really, really upsetting for me.”
The two had moved into an apartment together, but Mat began sleeping on the couch and then decided to get his own apartment.

“It was really hard for me because he told everyone that he was not feeling anything for me, and that was really confronting because it really cemented that that’s how he felt,” she said.
Alycia was always optimistic about making their marriage work, while Mat was adamant that he couldn’t be the ‘Prince Charming’ she was searching for.
When Alycia tried to open up to him about working through their issues, things went from bad to worse.
“He obviously exploded and didn’t know how to deal with where I was coming from,” she said. “So it was really tough for me.”
“I’m pretty intuitive with people, and I just could not work him out. He’s probably one of the hardest people I’ve come across and to try and break down whatever walls he had up was a real challenge,” she continued.
Alycia revealed that she believes the two of them were a great match, but he was too closed up.
“He’s definitely someone that I go for, and I still think we’re a great match,” she said. “I really do. I just feel like he has some issues that stopped us from having a really good thing with each other, and I just wish he let me in to help him with it but he just couldn’t let me in.”
Mat told NW that he lost 6kg in 10 days from the stress of the marriage.
“I’m not good with clingy people at all and it was killing me,” he said.
We hope Alycia finds her Prince Charming!
