If you thought the last season of Married At First Sight was a big deal, just WAIT until you see what’s in store for 2019.
It seems our love experts Dr Trisha Stratford, John Aiken and Mel Schilling have well and truly had their work cut out for them matching this year’s batch of brides and grooms.
TV WEEK had the chance to watch some of the episodes, and let’s just say fans better have their popcorn at the ready! With 20 hopeless romantics looking for love on the hit dating show, there are bound to be some major twists, shocks and (fingers crossed) even a few successful relationships.
Here are five things viewers can expect from the sixth season of Married At First Sight.
1. MORE drama
The MAFS team have confirmed that there will be even more drama in 2019 – and not just because the show will have more episodes.
Unlike last season, which centred around one major scandal (the Davina-Dean-Tracey-Ryan ‘cheating’ scandal) the new episodes will see multiple breakout storylines as the different personalities emerge.

2. A first for the show… and a possible first for this groom!
This year MAFS will introduce a new groom who differs to their typical bros, with the shy and introverted Matthew appearing on the show.
The 29-year-old videographer is the first contestant who is still a virgin, with the relationship experts admitting it’s an important moment for them. Will they find Matthew his perfect soulmate?
3. Real love stories to root for
In good news, viewers are in for some swoon-worthy love stories this season with plenty of couples who seem perfect for one another. One of the couples even seem bound by fate, as they share similar journeys to their wedding ceremony.
4. A new rivalry
It looks like two of our brides won’t be getting along, with their first encounter at the hen’s night proving a little awkward. We sense some major tension will be brewing at the dinner parties.
5. A controversial groom
One of our budding husbands-to-be might say all the right things sometimes, but give him a moment and he may just cause a little scandal on our screens. Fans will be left open-mouthed when he passes some controversial comments at his wedding. Let’s hope the clip is played back during one of the commitment ceremonies!
Married At First Sight premieres January 28th on the Nine Network.
