From their very first meeting on their wedding day, it was apparent that Brent Vitiello and Tamara Djordjevic were not going to go the distance as a couple.
After weeks of on-and-off squabbling, disagreements and insults, Brent and Tamara ultimately mutually decided to break up during their final vows on Monday night.
“You don’t have any real loyalty to anyone. And I realised you lack all the qualities I’m looking for in a partner,” Brent told Tamara. “The refusal to give in or let go and eventually the inability to be kind destroyed us. And you never took responsibility for your part in our sh-t fate.”
“You are not God’s gift to humanity, so stop looking down on everyone. I don’t even know where you get the confidence to do so. So on that note, good luck, good riddance,” he continued, before throwing his speech cards on the ground and walking off.
Tamara slammed Brent after the episode aired – and it appears there’s definitely no love lost between the former couple.
“Brent, I guess he wanted to have his say, have the last word, carry on like a child, throw his cards on the ground and pretty much just a ‘f–k you’,” she told 9Now following the ceremony.
“If that’s what he needs to do, and that’s what he feels is necessary then good on him. I was fine with it.”
Tamara said she Brent’s claims about her character in his final vows couldn’t be further from the truth.
“What Brent had to say about me isn’t true. I know in my heart it’s not true, the people who know me and love know it’s not true,” she told Nine Entertainment.
“I am a loyal person. I do care about other people. I care about people a lot actually or I wouldn’t be so worked up when some of my friends are upset. So it just goes to show he doesn’t really know the real me.”
Meanwhile, Brent said he wanted to let Tamara know how he was feeling without being disrespectful.
“I know she probably wouldn’t have take these thing well but unfortunately these are things that needed to be said and she needed to hear them,” he admitted.
Their explosive comments in the media comes following weeks of rumours that Brent is actually dating co-star Ella Ding, while Tamara is reportedly linked to Mitch Eynaud.
Ella was photographed at the beach with Brent on Valentine’s Day in Sydney, while Tamara and Mitch also spent the day of love together in Brisbane.
The on March 24, Brent and Tamara gave scathing media interviews about each other. “Everyone’s feedback is really starting to rock her a little bit, but I guess it’s part of being held accountable for the certain things you do and say,” Brent told Maz and Lakey, referring to Tamara’s harsh comments about his hospitality job.
Tamara then claimed that Brent only went on MAFS to boost his influencer career, saying: “This is his big break! I think he just wants to be an influencer and get some free teeth.”
To understand how the couple got to the messy place they’re at now, let’s take a look back at their MAFS journey…
The couple clashed at their wedding reception when Brent hypothetically asked Tamara what her opinion would be of him if he worked at a toy store.
“Well you wouldn’t be very ambitious to me,” she responded bluntly. “I asked for someone who was ambitious. I want someone who has those same values that I have. And not because I think working in those kind of industries is bad.
In a piece-to-camera interview, a visibly shocked Brent blasted Tamara as “spoilt, pretentious and entitled”.
“Her views on people that work in retail are horrible. She’s got a very snobbish way of looking at things. The way that she’s already judged me and anyone below her.”
The couple eventually started to turn things around on their honeymoon when they began to bond and Tamara apologised for her “ridiculous” behaviour.
But they encountered another roadblock to love when Brent was shown Tamara’s audition tape, where she said: “If a guy wears fake designer clothes, if they drive a really ugly car and don’t have a good job or money, unfortunately, I’m just not interested.”
In the moment, Brent responded to the audition tape by calling it “pretentious.” Tamara explained her side of things as having previously “carried” partners who relied on her to do everything for them, sharing that she understood how her comments would sound to Brent.
Speaking with New Idea, Brent revealed he found the moment to be a “turn off” until further chatting things through with his bride.
“When I watched the tape, I was more disappointed because obviously, you had bits and pieces of that at the wedding,” he revealed. “You saw that side of Tamara, and obviously I didn’t like it.
Of course, as fans saw, they did patch things up and actually became intimate with each other for the very first time that evening.
