On last night’s episode of Married At First Sight, we were introduced to Troy Delmege and Ashley Irwin. The groom was quite controversial from the get-go, with his comments about wanting a ‘Barbie doll wife’.
“My type is the Barbie cheerleader,” Troy told the experts. “Blonde, blue-eyed. She’s got this really tanned skinned, she’s pretty skinny, she’s got a big chest.”
When he first met his bride Ashley, Troy was impressed. “She looks exactly like I was hoping for,” he said to the camera.
Troy also spent a lot of time gushing over Ashley’s parents – including her mum, Stephanie.

So would he actually date Stephanie?
“If she was a little bit younger, yeah,” the 34-year-old tells TV WEEK. “I’m attracted to the warm, motherly, girly girls, so she’s definitely the type I’d be interested in if we were the same age.”
But Troy says he generally goes for women younger than himself, because they have “less baggage”.
“They haven’t been hurt as many times as some of the older girls, and they’re not as bitter,” he explains.
The IT consultant from NSW says going out with women via dating apps was “too easy”.
“I know my best angles,” he boasts. “I know how to create the perfect little bio. I can almost talk any girl into coming out with me, really.”
He admits he went on “a few too many” dates with women who turned out to be “not as advertised”.
But he certainly wasn’t disappointed with Ashley.
“She looked like the perfect princess bride,” he declares. “I definitely believed we would have a lot in common.”
