It’s already been four years since Love Island Australia first debuted on our screens and gave the original British version of the show a run for its money.
While all of the relationships between the season one cast have since imploded, we will still never forget the chaos that was Eden and Erin and Tayla and Grant.
Love Island reached a new record for the world’s shortest reality TV romance when Tayla dumped Grant after he came clean about having a secret girlfriend.
The winning couple from the show’s inaugural season only lasted a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it two weeks out in the wilderness of the real world.
More recently, Love Island season one’s last remaining couple, Josh Moss and Amelia Marni, went their separate ways.
Keep scrolling to see what went down between each couple.
With the first Love Island split causing shock-waves around the nation, all eyes are now on remaining couples.
In the $15 million Mallorca villa, everything’s heightened — emotions, tensions and boredom.
People declared their undying love to their partners of just a few weeks, planned their future children’s names and plotted to move to different cities to live together, but how did it pan out in the real world?
Here, we reveal which of the Love Island Australia couples are still together…
Tayla and Grant: BROKEN UP
It’s all over for the poster couple despite their grand plans to use their $50K cash prize to relocate to Sydney.
“[We’re] going to use the money to move to Sydney together,” Tayla told Now To Love before their split.
“I’ve always seen myself moving to Sydney because I have a journalism and broadcasting degree. So for me that’s the best place to be. I have a lot of my dad’s family in Sydney so it means I’ll be closer to them. And Grant likes Sydney too.”
Of course, the pair split and the big move never happened.
“Obviously I’m heartbroken, it was a big shock to the system,” Tayla told The Fix at the time.
Sadly for Tayla, Grant finally came clean and revealed he did indeed have a partner called Lucy on the outside.
“He denied it when we were in the house and I just had this gut feeling to follow through with it. Once I was able to access media and read the articles, I told Grant he needed to own up. I finally got the answer that was the truth: he was on there to promote himself and he did have a girlfriend who was running his business while he was inside the Villa.”
“I said there was nothing more than I wanted for this to work, and to gain my trust back, but I gave him multiple chances inside the Villa, and obviously once I found out this information as well, the lies just continued the last 10 days. There was no trust being built up with anything. I couldn’t be in a relationship with someone I don’t trust.”
So far, all that Grant has said about the split is that he found out through Instagram.
“This is news to me?” he penned underneath the Love Island‘s page’s post about their split.
Then, in a shock twist, just two weeks after Tayla dumped him, Grant is back with his ex-girlfriend Lucy Carwright.

Meanwhile, Tayla began dating fellow Love Island alum Dom Thomas in October but in June 2019, they confirmed their split via a YouTube video entitled, Answering your question: Have we broken up?
“There’s no story behind it. There’s no drama. We’re just in different parts and directions in our life and that’s just how it is so we hope everyone can respect our privacy and just respect that we’re still fine and we’re still mates,” Tayla told the camera.
“It’s just been a difficult time at the moment so we will continue to support each other and we do hope that you guys can understand where we’re coming from,” added Dom.
“I guess that’s just how we feel right now at this point in life. So sorry for letting you guys wait so long. “
Tayla has since moved on with Richmond AFL player, Nathan Broad, and seems happier than ever. The couple got engaged in 2021 and live together in Melbourne.
The football star made headlines in 2018 over a nude photo leak whereby a picture of a naked woman wearing his premiership medallion went viral.
“I take full responsibility for what I have done — I sent a very private picture without this young woman’s consent,” a statement from Nathan read at the time according to the ABC.
“”I am ashamed and I am embarrassed and I made a very bad drunken decision”.
Eden and Erin: BROKEN UP
The seemingly loved up runner-ups were so committed to making their long-distance love work, but unfortunately two months after the Love Island finale, the pair have gone their separate ways.
Erin and Eden shared a joint statement on Instagram, alerting fans of their decision to end their relationship.
“We wanted to share with you, that after much deliberation, we have quietly parted ways,” the statement said.
“We look back and cherish the time we have spent together, the memories we have created, in both Spain and in Australia.”
“We can’t thank each and everyone of you enough, for the support and love you have shown us, but we have to be honest within ourselves as we realise that our forever as a couple, is no longer.”
“We look forward to supporting each other moving forward and remain best friends.”
Eden is currently [dating Married At First Sight star Cyrell Paule, and their pair share a three-year-old son together. Erin has also moved in with her boyfriend, Mick Russell.
Despite a rocky relationship Eden and Cyrell have remained a couple and recently welcomed a baby boy, Boston.
“He’s so cute, I’m already obsessed with him,” the new mum told a local publication.
Eden also besotted then added: “It’s so surreal, I’m just looking at him knowing that we created this little baby.”
“We don’t really plan things,” Eden admitted to NW following their baby bombshell. “We just let it happen, just like this happened, our relationship.”
Dom and Shelby: BROKEN UP
After a seemingly decent attempt at making it work in the outside world, Dom revealed on August 4 that he and Shelby have gone their separate ways.
Taking to Instagram Dom wrote, “We have decided that we are best off as friends. This is something we had both recently discussed and agreed upon and is not a sudden decision.”
“We are very close friends and will continue to talk to each other. Unfortunately with the distance and our busy schedules it is difficult for anything to progress further with us.”
“Shelby is a beautiful girl for whom I have a lot of respect for and our time together both in and out of the villa was amazing.”
Dom was living in Sydney with his Love Island former girlfriend Tayla for a brief moment, while Shelby’s up north in Toowoomba, which would have definitely been a big factor for the couple to take into consideration.
Josh and Amelia: BROKEN UP
Josh Moss and Amelia Marni lasted an eternity in reality TV time (four years to be exact). However, in May 2022 the couple announced they had broken up, much to the surprise of fans.
“This was the most heartbreaking yet respectful breakup. After almost four years of being together we decided to go our separate ways,” Amelia shared on Instagram.
“I don’t know if this comes as a shock because I think we portrayed a happy healthy relationship. And it was that for most of the part, but there was also a lot of challenging moments we didn’t share.
“No relationship is perfect but there are some parts you have to see eye-to-eye.”
Amelia went on to say that she and Josh are on “great terms for a breakup” and wish each other the best.
Millie and Mark: BROKEN UP
In the finale, we learned the pair was still sharing a bed, so something must have worked out.
Despite going into the villa looking for a tradie, Millie left with a model with a criminology and law degree—something she’s sure her mum will be stoked about.
“What you think you want and what you need are such different things and maybe that’s why I’ve been single for so long,” she told NW.
“Mark is gorgeous and such a beautiful person. My mum will be proud of me for going after a nice boy.”
But despite plans to launch their own fashion label called Island Couture by the end of 2018, things didn’t work out for the Sydney pair, who confirmed their split in March 2019.
While Mark’s account is now on private, Millie shared a picture of the quote, ‘Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened,’ confirming the news.
“Mark and I have had such an amazing time together and we will forever cherish our special moments, unfortunately at this point in time we have decided we are both going in different directions and have to part ways,we still remain very close friends . Thank you everyone for your support and we hope right now you can respect our privacy,” she captioned her post.
