Ryan Gallagher’s mum Vickie might have breathed a sigh of relief her son wasn’t starring on another dating show but she’s happy he’s found a blossoming relationship with Geordie Shore’s Charlotte Crosby
“I’m watching them with interest,” quips Vickie, 66. “Look, I definitely would have preferred their friendship to have lasted a bit longer before the romance started, but having said that they’re spending a lot of time together,” she says, in full support of the couple’s bond.
And while Ten’s action-packed competition is worlds apart from MAFS, it hasn’t stopped MTV star Charlotte, 29, from talking about marriage.
“He’s so thoughtful and he remembers everything. And they’re the qualities I want in a husband,” she said last week.
So does Vickie approve? “Whatever makes him happy,” she says, before insisting that while Charlotte isn’t Ryan’s usual type, she’s open to the fact that unlucky-in-love Ryan, 31, perhaps didn’t know his type before he met his jungle lover.
Meanwhile, viewers are seeing a different side of Ryan. Last week the big-hearted campmate opened up about the struggles he has endured alongside his mother Vickie, who has lived through a tumultuous and unrelenting journey with breast cancer.
Vickie says she’s never been prouder of her son, who could not only be set to score himself $100,000 for The Breast Cancer Foundation, but could also take home the title of jungle king.
“People should absolutely vote for Ryan because he’s tackled his fears face-on in the jungle,” insists the brave mum, who has watched her reality star son do everything from skydiving to getting up close with some of the jungle’s most terrifying critters.
Cosentino’s makeup tantrum!
Move over Rhonda Burchmore, there’s another diva in the jungle! Woman’s Day hears illusionist Paul Cosentino, 37, caused some serious jungle chaos over his own makeup demands.
“Production eased up the rules on makeup for the females and after seeing Erin [Barnett] and Rhonda wearing it, Cosentino had a tantrum and demanded he was allowed to wear it, too!” says our spy.
“The production staff tried to talk him out of it because they prefer makeup-free celebs. They’ve nicknamed him Jack Sparrow!”
Jungle drug bust!
South Africa’s warm weather and idyllic landscapes are no doubt a big drawcard for those celebrities looking to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
However, it seems a certain campmate made themselves a little too comfortable before heading into the show!
Woman’s Day’s set spy insists one celebrity was busted smoking marijuana at the resort they were holed up in prior to filming!
“A talent handler was doing the rounds, making sure the stars were all OK and preparing to brief them on a few things when she smelled marijuana coming from the celeb’s room,” says the spy.
“She reported back that there was definitely a smell in the room and the celebrity was acting like they were really high. “The producer went in and confronted them about it, they admitted it and they were told to behave,” continues the insider.
It’s believed the celebrity’s bags were then given a closer inspection to ensure no other prohibited substances were snuck into the camp.
Cannabis use in South Africa has been decriminalised by the country’s government for personal consumption by adults in private, but is illegal to sell.
