Buckle up, it’s going to be a bumpy ride to Africa for the celebrities heading to the jungle for I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! Australia.
The complete line up for 2023 hasn’t been officially confirmed by Channel Ten, but insider sources and fans have revealed their contestant predictions.
”There’s absolute legends and household names, and there’s fabulous discovery,” says Network 10 Head of Entertainment Stephen Tate.
”But the one thing they all have in common is they’re really funny. All of them,” he told TV Tonight.
”The cast define it [the show] and this cast is just fantastic. I know I say that every year, but they really are. We cast right up until the very last visa run that we could possibly do to get somebody into the country. And we are thrilled with the cast.”
Find out who is believed to be heading into the jungle for season nine.
Woody Whitelaw
Radio host on the KIIS Network, Woody Whitelaw is the first among the list of celebrities to be confirmed!
Woody and his co-star Will McMahon were competing for a week to declare who would be the ‘King of the Jungle’ after finding out only one of the boys could join the show.
“There are mixed emotions to be heading into the jungle. I’m obviously excited to be getting a free flight to South Africa and becoming best mates with some cool celebs, but there is also the reality of being away from my girls for an extended period of time,” Woody said.
“I haven’t been away from Rem for over three days since she was born, so I really don’t know how I’m going to handle that.”
Tony Armstrong
With a clue hinting at a ”TV Presenter with an impressive kick” ABC presenter and former AFL player Tony Armstrong was the first to come to our minds!
The loveable larrikin fits the bill with the clue also hinting at someone with an ”infectious laugh” and someone who will keep the camp in stiches without even trying.
Fingers crossed we get to see Tony on our screens!
Georgie Parker
With a clue hinting at a former Home and Away actress from an ocean going series Georgie was the obvious option for us!
And with an additional clue hinting at a Logie award winning actress who is a ”star of both stage and screen” we are even more confident that Georgie heading to the jungle!
Angela Bishop
This veteran entertainment and showbiz reporter recently hinted to TV Week that she had some ”exciting stuff coming up” that was ”top secret”.
With a clue that hints at ”rolling out the red carpet” for TV royalty, we couldn’t help but think of Angela….
Radio stars
In a season first, KISS FM national drive hosts Will & Woody have revealed live on air that ONE of them is locked in for an appearance this season.
In an interview with Dr Chris Brown, the television vet said: ”We can officially reveal the celebrity is going into the jungle the radio is one of you two guys.”
Fellow radio personality Fifi Box has also made a suspicious claim whilst on air, revealing to listeners that she is heading overseas for a ”work trip” which is incidently around the same time that I’m A Celeb will be filmed.
Question is, will there be two radio hosts in the jungle?
Daniel Doody OR Hannah Ferrier
With a clue hinting at a castmate coming ”from the high seas to the African jungle” we can’t help but wonder if Channel 10 will be featuring standout stars from the networks failed reality dating show The Real Love Boat.
Perhaps Daniel Doody or Hannah Ferrier?
Mark Holden OR Ian ”Dicko” Dickson
Well known for their talent spotting on Australian Idol, these two are sure to be lost for words when they are eating who knows what in a BushTucker trial!
In a clue hinting at an ”outspoken” TV host, we couldn’t help but turn our thoughts to this pair who are known for speaking the truth, regardless of who it will hurt.
Sam Mac
The popular Sunrise weather presenter shared some snaps from South Africa to his Instagram back in February, documenting several immersive experiences with native wildlife.
Reportedly Sam was in the African continent filming content for Sunrise but we can’t help but question if this is too much of a coincidence that Sam was in South Africa at the same time that filming for season nine of the hit reality show was about to begin?
Especially considering the show is filmed at the Kruger National Park, in the same African state that he was visiting.
Something also worth considering is that Sam is currently contracted to Channel 10’s rival network Channel 7 so may be contractually unable to appear on the show unless something has changed.
Carrie Bickmore
Dr Chris Brown is reportedly hoping to get his friend, Carrie Bickmore on the show and Ten are throwing “a lot of money” to get her on board according to a source.
“It’s been about three months of closed-door negotiations at Network 10 and while nothing has been locked in yet, TV executives are willing to wait until the very last minute if they have to,” the insider told New Idea.
“They know this would be a dream outcome, and if what I’m hearing is correct, there is a good chance Carrie could be joining Chris on that safari any day now.”
While there is no guarantee, it would be an incredible win for Network 10.
Sarah Ferguson
Following in the footsteps of her ex-nephew in law Mike Tindall who appeared on the UK version of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me out of Here! The Duchess of York, affectionately dubbed ‘Fergie’ is tipped to join the cast with insider sources revealing that Aussie producers are willing to offer her the ‘big bucks’ to bring a royal touch to the reality show.
The 63-year-old recently announced she’s pushed back her planned speaking tour of Australia scheduled for next month, citing a “schedule clash”, but insiders hint that Fergie simply wants to line up her appearance on I’m A Celeb with the gig.
And the former royal is said to be earning more than $250,000 for In Conversation with Sarah, Duchess of York, hosted by Ray Martin, so there’s no doubt I’m A Celeb will have to stump up some serious cash to secure her!
Adam Cooney
This Brownlow Medal winner footy player is tipped to join the all-star cast according to reports made by the Herald Sun.
After retiring from AFL and transitioning into a broadcasting role on Channel Seven show, Armchair Experts, it now looks like Adam will be swapping the creature comforts of his studio for camping in the wilderness of South Africa.
Here is who else may make an appearance
According to a TV insider, Channel Ten producers are also keen to score Aussie influencer and fitness model Tammy Hembrow, 28, Russell Crowe‘s ex Danielle Spencer, 53, and Aussie boxer Harry Garside, 25, to star alongside Fergie in the bumper season.
A recent trailer for the reality TV show confirms a footballer, comedian, boxer and chef have signed on – and an insider recently weighed in on the potential picks.
‘Rugby league star Sam Burgess would have to be front-runner. And the comedian is either Tommy Little or Peter Helliar,’ a source told our sister publication New Idea.
Cold calling Sam whilst live on air, Kyle and Jackie O congratulated him on his casting on the show to which Sam seemingly confirmed the rumours swirling when he responded with ”how did you find out?”
After some back and forth Sam then continued with ”I hate to break it to you but I’m not going on the show.”
But is he just trying to throw us of the scent? Only time will tell!
Insider sources also added that celebrity chef Shannon Bennett and lightweight boxing champion Lauryn Eagle were also likely candidates.
‘Tommy is one of the last comedians on Ten’s books and they might need to tie up a few loose ends with Pete’s contract after he left The Project,’ said the spy.
‘And after a few run-ins with the law, Lauryn seems well-suited for a redemption appearance.’
