Considered one of the best players to ever take the field, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! star Shane Crawford is proud of his AFL career. However it’s his role as a dad of four boys that brings him the most joy.
The Footy Show star, 44, admits he suffers from “dad guilt” when he’s away from his family for television and other work commitments. For that reason, he tries to make the time he spends with his children extra-special.
“For me, it’s more about quality time rather than hanging out with them 24 hours a day,” he tells TV WEEK. “When we do things together, I want it to have an impact. That’s my focus.”
As for how he’ll cope with being away from his family while in the jungle, Shane says he’ll find it tough – and viewers might even see a few tears.
“It’s going to send me on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster,” he says. “There’s no place like being around the kids. I need their cuddles.
“I’ll try to act big and tough, but I will [cry]. I’m getting softer as I get older.”
While he loves being a father to Charlie, 13, Benjamin, 11, and eight-year-old twins Jack and Harry, Shane admits he and wife Olivia have given up any hope of having a girl.
“We tried for a daughter and ended up with twin boys, so we decided to retire!” he says with a laugh.
“The twins are a handful – in a good way. They keep me on my toes. I’m very lucky to have four healthy boys.”
I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! airs Monday to Thursday, and Sunday, 7.30pm, 10.
