They say that living your best life is the best revenge, so Karl Stefanovic’s ex-wife Cassandra Thorburn has decided the best way to get even is to get fit and fabulous, on Channel 10’s reboot 2019 season of Dancing With The Stars.
The 47-year-old was confirmed as one of the show’s contestants this week, alongside actor Samuel Johnson and cricket star Curtly Ambrose.
Cass, who split with ex-husband Karl in 2016, said she was hesitant about appearing on the show, but chose to go ahead with it for her father.
“I decided to do it because it was one of the last conversations I had with my Dad before he passed away. It had been offered to me and at first I thought, no that’s crazy. I couldn’t possibly do that,” she said.
“If you don’t do something, an opportunity that you never thought would come up and if you said no… you will regret it one day. And I thought ‘ok so let’s go for it’. Plus learning to dance, you know every girl would love to learn to dance. It is so lovely, what a skill.”
On Thursday, Cass introduced her Instagram followers to her new Italian dance partner on the show, Marco De Angelis.
“I consider myself the wildcard in the DWTS cast… having an absolute ball… turns out dancing makes me happy!” she wrote on Instagram, tagging De Angelis in the post.
De Angelis, 24, is a retired competitive dancer who has travelled the world competing in professional dance competitions.
Most recently, he starred in Burn The Floor, a show dubbed the “world’s toughest dance company”, but finished up with the company at the beginning of January.

A quick little stalk of his Instagram account shows he’s quite the jetsetter, travelling all over the world to dance.
He also doesn’t look too bad with his shirt off!
Here’s hoping there’s a few lavish costumes planned for this season to show off that rig – and that he looks good in sequins!
The new TV gig is a positive step for Cass, after her ex-husband’s very high profile wedding to young 34-year-old shoe designer Jasmine Yarbrough last year.
In early 2018, Cass expressed her disappointment in Karl in an exclusive interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly.
“Last year, I declared that Karl really was dead to me, a man I no longer know, but the children still have their father,” Cass said.
“The flip-side of that is I feel like we’re dead to his family and almost anyone from our old life. There has been practically no contact.
“The children were not invited to Sylvia and Peter’s wedding [Karl’s brother, Peter, and fellow television presenter Sylvia Jeffreys were married in March 2017]. I feel like we’ve been discarded and disposed of, replaced by a whole new line-up of starters.
“It has been a real adjustment period for me. For 21 years, that entire family was a part of my life and in a matter of a few days, two decades of memories are gone.”

Karl’s new romance has caused friction inside his family. He and Cass have three children together – Jackson, 19, Ava, 13, and River, 12 – but they weren’t all present at their father’s second wedding.
“I didn’t go to the ceremony, I went to say congratulations [to Karl and Jasmine] after they’d all left the chapel but it was a lot later,” Jackson told the Daily Mail.
“My brother and sister didn’t want to go, and I was not going to leave them on their own so I looked after them.”
A premiere date for Dancing With The Stars is yet to be announced, but the show is expected to commence from next month.
