Without a doubt 2020 has been a turbulent year for each and every one of us, but none more so than Bachelor In Paradise star Jake Ellis.
After spectacularly leaving this year’s season of the dating show for on-again-off-again girlfriend Megan Marx, Jake returned home for a brief moment of happiness.
“Very shortly after I hit the sand I just knew that it didn’t feel right,” the 34-year-old previously told Who.
“I realised I already had the love I was looking for in my life – with Megan.”
As his final episodes of Bachelor In Paradise played out on screen, Jake shared the tragic news he’d lost his beloved father, Brian.
The heartbreaking passing came after his mum lost her battle with breast cancer in 2018 at age 64.
Now, in an exclusive chat with Now To Love, Jake opens up about his first Christmas without his dad, his relationship with Megan and why he isn’t watching this season of The Bachelorette.
Jake, last we saw you, you were making quite the dramatic and romantic exit from Bachelor In Paradise to be with Megan. Did you make the right decision?
Yeah, definitely. I would do it all over again. It’s obviously been a very trying year, so, you know, we’re still very close and who knows what’s going to happen.
You’re not wrong about a trying year, we were so sorry to see the news of your dad’s passing recently – how are you doing?
Thank you. It’s been very difficult, obviously. I think it’s been quite delayed obviously we lost mum a few years ago , it’s definitely an adjustment coming back to the new normal. My dad especially he loved Christmas and his favourite thing was going to the shops and doing all the shopping. No I don’t have to do that, I’m using ShopBack and doing my shopping online, it’s easier.
We hear you’re catching up with fellow BIP star Abbie Chatfield in partnership with ShopBack for their huge ShopFest event, which sounds like our online shopping dreams, what can fans expect?
I’m doing a cocktail master class with Abby on Wednesday, which is going to be really exciting. I haven’t seen Abby since Paradise so it’s going to be a pretty interesting conversation on Shop Back’s live video.
We’re giving away free prizes while we make cocktails and are drinking live, and I know Abbie doesn’t have a filter so people will have to tune in to see what tea, as they say, gets spilt.
We can’t wait to see what happens. Four years on from Georgia Love’s season of The Bachelorette are you still tuning into to watch all the drama unfold?
I usually do but I haven’t really been watching The Bachelorette, the new one. I’ve been a bit busy with other things going on. I’ve actually been watching the American one and it is way more dramatic.
