Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are just a few weeks away from welcoming their new baby into the royal family, officially bringing the couple together as one gorgeous family unit.

So to mark the beginning of this special new chapter in their lives, Harry and Meghan, along with The Queen, have decided to create a brand-new Sussex Household.

Currently, Prince Harry and Meghan live and share a Household with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, with both couples residing at Kensington Palace and sharing many formal resources, including a full team of staff made up of a private secretary, press secretary, assistants and bodyguards.

But now, the Duke of Sussex and the Duke of Cambridge will split their households, allowing for the creation of the new Sussex Household.

That fits in with Harry and Meghanโ€™s plans to leave their two-bedroom cottage at Kensington Palace and move into Frogmore Cottage at Windsor Castle.

Now, it has been revealed that the couple will also move their staff and offices from Kensington Palace too, meaning they will no longer share an office with Duchess Catherine and Prince William.

Buckingham Palace announced the news in a statement released on Thursday afternoon.

โ€œThe Queen has agreed to the creation of a new Household for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, following their marriage in May last year. The Household, which will be created with the support of The Queen and The Prince of Wales, will be established in the spring,โ€ the statement read.

โ€œThe Duke of Sussex currently has his own private office, which has been supporting The Duchess since the engagement of Their Royal Highnesses in November 2017.

โ€œThis long-planned move will ensure that permanent support arrangements for The Duke and Duchessโ€™s work are in place as they start their family and move to their official residence at Frogmore Cottage.โ€

The statement continued: โ€œThe Queen has given permission for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex to base their Household Office at Buckingham Palace.

โ€œTheir Royal Highnesses will appoint new communications staff, who will form part of the Buckingham Palace communications team and report to The Queenโ€™s Communications Secretary, Donal McCabe.โ€

โ€œKensington Palace will continue to support Their Royal Highnesses until that team is in place.โ€

Kensington Palace also announced that Harry and Meghan have a new head of communications, following the resignation of several staff members over the past few months.

Sara Latham will be in charge of all communications and press relations for the Sussex Household and report directly to The Queenโ€™s communication secretary.

She was previously employed at London public relations firm Freuds, where she โ€œoversaw global corporate accounts with a particular emphasis on executive thought leadership and purpose-led campaigns,โ€ a statement from Kensington Palace said.

Meanwhile, Jason Knauf has been appointed as Senior Adviser to The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and he will work closely with the couple on โ€œcharitable initiatives โ€“ including work on the environment, mental health, and early childhood โ€“ and supporting a review of the charitable structures that underpin their work,โ€ the palace explained in a statement.
