Serena Williams — a.k.a superwoman — is opening up about her pregnancy for the first time since announcing the happy news last week.
Taking to Instagram, the undisputed queen of tennis posted a touching love note to her unborn baby.
“My Dearest Baby, You gave me the strength I didn’t know I had. You taught me the true meaning of serenity and peace. I can’t wait to meet you. I can’t wait for you to join the players box next year,” Serena wrote alongside a photo of herself in a swimsuit.
The 35-year-old added: “But most importantly, I am so happy to share being number one in the world with you …. once again today. On @alexisohanian bday. 😉 from the world’s oldest number one to the world’s youngest number one. — Your Mommy.”
The moving upload coincides with her return to the world number one spot in the latest Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings.
Serena’s representatives confirmed the exciting news of her pregnancy just hours after the tennis great posted (and quickly deleted) an image which appeared to be a baby announcement on Snapchat.
The image, which showed the athlete pose side-on while wearing a bright yellow one-piece swimsuit, was captioned: “20 weeks.”
In December, the 35-year-old became engaged to boyfriend Alexis Ohanian, Reddit co-founder, while holidaying in Italy.
Posting on Reddit, Serena shared a beautiful poem about the pair’s “full circle” romance alongside a cartoon of the engagement, including a whoppingly large – albeit cartoon – rock.
Borrowing Alexis’ Reddit username, the cartoon dubbed Serena as the “future Mrs Kn0thing.”
On her verified Reddit account, Serena penned, “I came home/ A little late/ Someone had a bag packed for me/ And a carriage awaited.”
“Destination: Rome/ To escort me to my very own ‘charming’/ Back to where our stars first collided.”She continued, “And now it was full circle/ At the same table we first met by chance/ This time he made it not by chance/ But by choice/ Down on one knee/ He said 4 words/ And I said yes.”
Alexis responded to the post via his own Reddit account, writing, “And you made me the happiest man on the planet.”
The engagement was also announced on Alexis’ Facebook page as the tech-giant linked to Williams’ Reddit post, including the caption, “She said yes.”
Congratulations again to the happy couple! We can’t wait to meet your little one.
