It’s got to be every pregnant mum’s worse case scenario; being in labour and not making it the hospital in time!
No mum – or dad – wants to deliver their baby in the car, on the side of the road, or in the foyer of the hospital. And many dads-to-be have been known to run a red light (or two) while driving their labouring wives into hospital to prevent this very situation happening.
But that scenario became a reality for two parents in the U.S. who have shared their incredible birth video with the world.
When Kristin Dickerson’s water broke at home in Texas she and her husband, Troy packed their hospital bags into their car and began their journey into hospital. Not wanting to miss a moment of their baby’s arrival Troy decided to strap on his GoPro to document the birth.
After a very intense drive to the hospital with Kristen calling out, “I can feel it’s head!” they arrived at the hospital just in time for Kristen to push.
Despite much encouragement from hospital security and her husband for Kristen to sit in a waiting wheelchair to be taken to the labour ward, Kristin was not budging for anyone.
“His head is out! I’m not kidding!” she yelled.
“Catch him! Catch him!” she then urgently called to her Troy, who was still filming every amazing moment.
Troy indeed caught his son, Truett who was born just outside the hospital in the valet parking area next to the family car.
After a few tense moments while doctors and nurses raced down to assist, baby Truett is finally heard crying and enjoys skin-on-skin time with his mum.
Grab the tissues before you watch this one. It’s emotional but INCREDIBLE!
