He’s been through unimanginable heartbreak and pain, but Alex McKinnon has come out on cloud nine as he welcomes two adorable twin baby girls to the world.
Sharing the exciting news on Instagram alongside his wife, Teigan, Alex’s joy was plain and clear as the couple shared the happy news.
“Two little precious girls have entered the world and have stolen our hearts 26/04/21. 3:13pm and 3:19pm,” Teigan explained on Instagram, alongside three beautiful photos of the proud parents holding their gorgeous new baby girls, who join their first child, Harriet, two.
Alex also shared the news and the names on his own page: Audrey Jill and Violet John.
As expected, the pair were inundated with comments of congratulations after sharing the news.
“Wow. Congrats you two. Simply beautiful,” radio host Ben Fordham wrote.
Fox Sports journalist Lara Pitt added: “Beautiful! Congrats guys.”
One of Teigan’s friends also shared her excitement: “OH MY GOSH! CONGRATULATIONS ❤️❤️ Welcome to the world precious girl, you are beyond lucky! You’re glowing Mama!”
Alex faced the unimaginable back in 2014 when we was caught in a lifting tackle which left him with a spinal cord injury and in a wheelchair.
The accident is one that no doubt plays in his head, with Alex once admitting: “When people start to treat your injury and the effect that an injury like that can have on your life and how it consumes you, you start to identify yourself with that injury and not myself, Alex McKinnon.”
But he’s battled through the difficult journey, adding he was nervous about how his relationship with Teigan might change in the wake of his injury – but she’s been his biggest support the whole way through.
The pair married in 2017 and welcomed their first child, baby Harriet in October 2018.
And now, the pair’s family has grown by another two – with two little twin sisters for Harriet to grow up with.
Alex and Teigan are proof that despite being faced with terribly tough circumstances, love and support truly conquers all.
Congrats to the new parents!
