This is just awful.

Last Friday, Theodore Silvester’s parents were delivered the kind of heart-wrenching news that no parent would have ever imagined receiving: their five-year-old son had died at school after choking on his lunch.

Tragically, it has been reported by the Daily Mail that the adorable youngster started having difficulty eating his lunch at Anlaby Primary School in the UK town of Hull.

Paramedics were called and Theodore was rushed to hospital, but, despite the medical staff’s tireless efforts to revive sweet Theodore, he later passed away at Hull Royal Infirmary.

His death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson released a statement on behalf of Theodore’s understandably shocked family, saying: “His family are being supported by specially trained Family Liaison Officers.”

“They have asked the media and the wider public to let them and the people who knew Theodore to come to terms with what has happened and grieve in peace.”

In a bid to assist Theodore’s parents with the heartbreaking task of organising (and paying for) their little boy’s funeral, friends and family have set up a crowd-funding JustGiving page “to give Theo the send-off he deserves”.

So far, the asked target of $1700 has been completely blown out the water, with the total funds raised now sitting at $15600.

According to KidSpot, Anlaby Primary School’s principal, Gareth May, says that the whole school community is shocked and heartbroken by Theodore’s untimely passing.

“The whole school community is deeply saddened by this tragic event and the thoughts of everyone connected with the school are with the child’s family.”

Our thoughts are with Theodore’s family and friends during this very difficult time.
