Sarah Jane Roza has motherhood firmly in her sights, and has taken the brave first steps to doing it alone.
The 39-year-old reality television star captured our hearts on 2018’s Married at First Sight, not least of all for her openness in seeking love, and even more so for the candid way she wore her heart on her sleeve – particularly when it came to her desire to be a mum.
On Wednesday, Sarah confirmed that she will be freezing her eggs, sharing images from the egg-retrieval process to her 352k Instagram followers.
“The big day is here!” wrote the always candid star.
“In these first two pictures I’m completely fine, just under a short twilight anaesthesia for the collection of my eggs to freeze!”
“Pictures 3,4,5 are literally just moments after my egg collection happened & picture 6 is me resting back in my recliner lounge waiting for my cup of tea with toast & about to go home.”
Genea Horizon, the clinic that beauty therapist Sarah is using, explain that egg collection takes 10-20 minutes. Harvested eggs are vitrified using freezing technology before being stored at the clinic until they’re ready for use.
And for Sarah, that may be very soon. Back in August, the star had rumours swirling after posting a very cryptic image to Instagram, writing, “The next chapter in my life & undoubtedly the most important… I’m beyond excited!”
Fans went into a frenzy of support and congratulations as the star explained that she would be harvesting her eggs.
During her MAFS season, our hearts broke for the star when she opened up about the pregnancy that led to miscarriage and a relationship breakdown which happened just 18 months before MAFS aired.
Sarah spoke with TV WEEK about the tragic loss of her twins recalling that her joy at expecting twins soon turned to heartache when her partner at the time had confessed he didn’t want to be with the beauty specialist anymore.
“His family just never liked me,” the 38-year-old told TV WEEK.
“I didn’t come from the rich side of the tracks. They wanted a real Stepford Wife for their son.”
Sarah says hearing the news she was pregnant with twins filled her with sadness.
“It was soul-destroying,” she says.
At the time, Sarah admitted she didn’t tell anyone about her pregnancy, which made grieving for her babies even more difficult.
“I was definitely in a very dark place for quite a few months afterwards,” she says. “I think the best way to describe it is like being in a fog. I knew I would eventually get out of it, but I just couldn’t make myself do it.”

Despite her partner leaving her, Sarah was determined to continue with the pregnancy and raise the children on her own.
“At that point I was 37 and I thought, ‘I don’t know if I’ll get another chance and I’ll just figure it out,'” she says.
Sadly it was not to be.
“I lost one baby at about two-and-a-bit months and the second at about three-and-a-bit months,” Sarah explains.
Now, after love not working out with Telv on MAFS, it looks like the star is prepared to go it alone. She’s sharing her journey as inspiration to others who may be in her position, and we could not be happier for her.
