Hollywood Walk of Fame has a new star, and she’s ready to get the party started!
Smack bang in between the stars of Jackie Chan and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Hollywood now has a star dedicated to pop superstar, Pink.
The 39-year-old Sober singer, brought along her adorable family – husband, former motocross legend Carey Hart, and her son, two-year old Jameson Moon as well as her seven-year-old daughter, Willow Sage to be with her as she accepted one of the biggest honours to be bestowed in the entertainment industry.
“This is surreal. It has been a trip lately thinking back over the course of this career I’ve somehow managed to have. I signed my first record deal 23 years ago… and I’m only 23½ so that’s crazy,” the much adored singer-songwriter jested as she addressed the crowd.
“It’s been two decades and it’s been meaningful and it’s been awesome. Today for me is a celebration of something that my dad taught me. And that is ‘to thine own self be true.’ There is a power in believing in yourself — you may not be the best that ever did it, you may not be the prettiest or the tallest of the funniest or the most talented… if you’re stubborn and you don’t give up and you work really hard — no one else can ever be you. Today is an absolute honour. Today proves that.”
Famous for the relationship she nurtures with her fans, Pink was sure to let them know the important role they had played in her receiving this honour.
“Thank you to my fans — you guys make it matter. Thank you for coming.”
But it was her dedication to her adoring husband, Carey Hart that gave us all of the feels, even the giggly ones.
“My husband — he’s so cute,” Pink gushed.
“He’s my muse and if he didn’t piss me off all the time I’d have not much to say. I wouldn’t be standing up here if it wasn’t for you. Never change.”
A loving, hands-on mother, Pink wasn’t about let her kids go without a mention either, calling them “my stars,” and stating proudly, “I would never shine without you.”
The So What singer also had her mother along to watch her receive her long-awaited star, taking to social media to share that her mum had made the trip to LA to be there for her.
“My mama is here and ready to party on Hollywood Blvd and Highland Blvd tomorrow at 11:30 am. They’re giving me a star come join us x,” she shared on Instagram.
It’s been a long wait for this recognition for the hard-working singer, and she spoke with Variety ahead of the ceremony, talking about just how much the star meant to her.
“I moved to Venice Beach when I was 19 and I didn’t know anybody — or anything,” said Pink. “I came out here by myself and I used to go to Hollywood Boulevard to buy stripper heels. I just remember seeing all those stars and thinking: ‘God, I hope this happens for me.’ And here we are.”
