Charlie played the hunky Zac on Home and Away but left the show in 2017 to pursue his Hollywood acting career and also focus on his weekly podcast TOFOP, which he presents alongside comedian Wil Anderson.
“On one hand, I’m going to miss everybody, and on the other it felt like it was the right time to go,” the actor said at the time.
“I was happy with the work I’d done − and the storyline wrapped up nicely.”
Charlie, whose character Zac was married to Ada Nicodemou’s Leah also revealed that he was going to miss his on-screen wife the most out of the cast.
“I’m really proud of what Ada and I did together,” he told TV WEEK in 2017. “I loved working with her.”
Following his departure from the show, Ada penned an emotional tribute alongside a photo from Zac and Leah’s wedding.
“Last night we said goodbye to Zac 😞 I miss working with u everyday, miss your bad jokes and all the laughs we used to have,” she wrote in the caption.
“Summer bay house isn’t the same without your ‘interesting’ art. I don’t see u everyday but you’re always in my heart and you’ll always be my friend. Good luck in the next venture @charlie_clausen.”
