Hilaria Baldwin has shared a heartwrenchingly candid post about miscarriage with her 530,000+ Instagram followers.

The 35-year-old mother-of-four is famously candid about her life at home with husband 61-year-old Alec Baldwin. From pregnancies, to post-partum exercise and home life the Spanish actress bares all, and this is a subject she was going to shy away from either.

“I don’t want to keep this from you, just because it isn’t as positive and shiny as the rest,” she wrote.

Shining light on the often taboo topic, Hilaria offered a real-time glimpse into what she is going through in the hope that it will help others not feel so alone.

‘I want to share with you that I am most likely experiencing a miscarriage. I always promised myself that if I were to get pregnant again, I would share the news with you guys pretty early, even if that means suffering a public loss,” she penned.

“I have no shame or embarrassment with this experience. I want to be a part of the effort to normalise miscarriage and remove the stigma from it.

“There is so much secrecy during the first trimester. This works for some, but I personally find it to be exhausting. I’m nauseous, tired, my body is changing. And I have to pretend that everything is just fine – and it truly isn’t. I don’t want to have to pretend anymore. I hope you understand.”

The star shares four children with husband Alec, little Romeo Alejandro David Baldwin, 11 months, Leonardo Ángel Charles, 2, Rafael Thomas, 3 and Carmen Gabriela, 5. Alec is also dad to 22-year-old daughter Ireland Baldwin, from his previous marriage to actress Kim Basinger.

Knowing her body and how it reacts to pregnancy, Hilaria went on to explain exactly why it was she believed she was having a miscarriage.

“The embryo has a heartbeat, but it isn’t strong, and the baby isn’t growing very much,” she shared. “So we wait – and this is hard. So much uncertainty… but the chances are very, very small that this is a viable pregnancy. I have complete confidence that my family and I will get through this, even if the journey is difficult.”

Hilaria was quick to point out that while this was heartbreaking, she still considers herself fortunate.

“I am so blessed with my amazing doctor, my dear friends, and my loving family,” she wrote. “My husband and my four very healthy babies help me keep it together and have the perspective of how truly beautiful life is, even when it occasionally seems ugly. The luck and gratitude I feel that I am my babies’ mummy, is wonderfully overwhelming and comforting.”

Despite her strength, making this post was still a vulnerable moment for the much-loved star, but despite “feeling fragile” she was determined that it was the right thing to do.
