The newborn bubble can be a polarising mix of emotions – the sleepless nights, the marathon cluster feeds, the hours spent in a dark room rocking your child to sleep…
But amongst the challenging chaos of trying to care for your little one, come the unexpected moments of pure joy in the most mundane of moments.
Proud new father-of-three Grant Denyer knows this all too well, taking to Instagram to pay a heartfelt tribute to his darling daughter Sunday Mary Mae Denyer as she turns eight weeks old.
Alongside a beautiful photo of the Gold Logie winner giving his youngest child a bath, the 43-year-old spoke candidly about the lifetime of adventures he’s set to have with his baby girl.
“Dear Sunday… Oh the things we’ll do together, the places we’ll see, the love we’ll feel. I’ve got some amazing things to show you my gorgeous girl and I hope I can teach you as much as you teach me,” Grant explained.
He continued: “We’re in this together kiddo, thick and thin. I hope you’ll never stop looking at me this way but I know your eyes are on the horizon… because for you, everything about tomorrow is a wonderful mystery… but for me, please just let me enjoy this moment… because today is truly a gift. That is why it’s called ‘the present.’
“This is just a bath to you but a whole lot more to me. A memory I’ll cherish until my dying day. I love you so much.
“Lots of love from your protector, teacher, source of love, greatest cheerleader &… your Dad. The happiest 2 months this man could ever imagine,” the I’m A Celeb runner-up concluded.
Understandably, Grant’s stirring words struck a chord with his followers but it was the television star’s wife Chezzi who was the most moved.
“I’m not crying, you are!! What an old pair of sobs we are… love you babe,” the podcast host said.
Smitten mum Chezzi also posted her own dedication to her daughter via her Instagram page.
“Today marks two of the most incredible months of my life… with this delicious soul 💜#sundaymarymaedenyer #8weeksold,” she penned next to a heart-melting snap of the two-month-old smiling.
The Denyers welcomed their third child on February 10 and have been settling into life as a new family of five at their home in Bathurst, NSW.
While it’s been several years since they’ve had a newborn under the roof, the couple admitted during a recent interview there’s a few things they forgot about.
“The first night home from the hospital, I turned to Grant and said, ‘I can’t believe we forgot how little babies sleep! What have we done?'” Chezzi confessed to Stellar.
“We had to get the nurses to show us how to swaddle the baby in the hospital because we couldn’t remember!”
However after a long fertility journey to get their much longed for third child, there’s not a moment they’re taking for granted.
“There was a period of time when we thought a third wasn’t going to happen for us, so I think going through that makes you so much more appreciative,” Chezzi revealed.
The couple are also parents to daughters Sailor, nine, and Scout, five.
