Summer holidays are out and school is well and truly back – and radio presenter Fifi Box is feeling all kinds of emotions about it.
Taking to Instagram on Thursday, the proud mum shared a series of snaps of her young girl, Trixie, five, as she prepared to head off for her first day of school.
And in true form, Trixie’s first day of school pic (that’ll likely live on the mantelpiece forevermore) wasn’t without some hilarity.
To kick off the emotion-fuelled 24 hours, Fifi posted several pics of the mother and daughter duo sharing some sweet moments together over the years, writing: “The night before my baby starts prep tomorrow and I have gone totally emo! How did this happen! She was just born 😭😭”
Then, on Thursday morning came the big moment – a picture of Trixie looking absolutely adorable in her new school uniform complete with backpack and hat.
“This happened today 😭😭😭,” wrote Fifi.
But there was something else in the photo that luckily lightened her spirits as she prepared to send her little girl off to school.
In the photo, the family’s pup Lizzie Rosie is seen playing with a toy, and Fifi commented: “Trixie was so happy to go to prep she didn’t even notice @lizzierosiebox taking off with her favourite doll 🤣”
In a second adorable pic posted of both Fifi and Trixie, the radio presenter wrote: “Do you think I could hold her any tighter? 🤣”
Despite Fifi’s natural despair, it looks like all went well for Trixie’s first day – on Thursday evening, Fifi posted another picture of herself and Trixie having a lie down together and looking entirely, blissfully fatigued.
“My baby exhausted after her big day at school. So proud of her 👼🏼,” Fifi wrote.
Fifi’s series of posts struck a chord with many other parents who had gone through the same thing, with many writing their own experiences and pieces of advice on Instagram.
“It’s always hard when they start Prep, all the best Trixie as you start your school years.” one wrote.
“Big love to you hun! I totally get it – I cried for hours after dropping [child’s name] off to prep & even while there.”
Another said Fifi’s feelings were very relatable, and it never got easier: “I’ve sent 4 kids off to school, it doesn’t get easier! My 5th & last bubba is 9 months old & I’m already dreading his first day of school,” they wrote.
It’s clear that Fifi and Trixie have a very special bond – the Melbourne Fox FM host even took her daughter to work recently to celebrate Bring Your Kids To Work Day along with her co-hosts Brendan Fevola and Byron Cooke.
Fifi shared the team photo on her Instagram saying, “Bring your kids to work day! This morning @brendanfevola25 @byroncooke and I brought our littlies into the radio station to watch their iPads for three hours while we worked.”
Fifi welcomed her first child Trixie in 2013, later confirming that her father was Grant Kenny.
The pair decided to address the topic of Trixie’s paternity with a series of family snaps on Trixie’s third birthday.
