After two on-air pregnancy announcements, Edwina Bartholomew’s family life is sweeter than ever

Edwina made a candid update in the caption of this fabulous picture.

She spoke out about the trend of ‘bouncing back’ after birth and assured fans that the standard is near impossible for most women.

“I bought these pants in LA before I was pregnant with Molly. Today – they fit again. FIVE YEARS LATER.” She wrote in the caption.

Edwina emphasised that bouncing back after birth takes time and to not put a number on how long it should.

A future tradie for the family perhaps!

A happy 2024! Edwina shared this gorgeous pic captioned, “May 2024 bring more fireworks and perfectly framed photos of your favourite family member.”

There is nothing quite sibling love, and Edwina’s two kids are no exception.

“Nothing says Christmas like your brother in a headlock and a pudding on your head 🎄,” she captioned the Christmas pic.

The best father-and-son duo goes to… Tom and Neil of course.

In 2020, Edwina told herself she would “never be one of those parents who let my kids eat at the supermarket”

But 2023 Edwina is a totally different woman! “I just realised Molly is in her pyjama pants.”

Molly turned three in 2022 and doting mummy Edwina had this to say about her daughter: ”Love you Miss Molly. You make me laugh out loud every single day. Your zest for life is infectious and I am in no doubt you will grow into a forceful little lady (if last night’s attempts to get you into bed serve as a guide).”

Dinners spent with her number one man (Thomas).

”May you enjoy breakfast as much as my son lapped up his dinner,” Edwina jokingly shared to her Instagram. We are sure all mums can relate to this moment!

Fridays best spent with her two main men!

Finally back home with her kids after reporting on the Queen’s death, Edwina made sure to soak up some downtime with Molly and Tom at home.

Six months after her son arrived, Edwina revealed how she was feeling about being a mum of two on Instagram. She captioned this photo: “Six months with our beautiful Tom. Big eyes, big smile and another big personality to rival his sister. We made it @neilwrites xx”

The breakfast TV favourite marked the end of her maternity leave in July 2022 with a family day out at the zoo, including plenty of photo opportunities.

Although it was Edwina’s 39th birthday, Thomas couldn’t help but steal the show as he peered at the camera for this sweet photo.

“39. Early alarm. Archibald. Stroll. Cake. Lovely,” the presenter penned.

To mark four months with her baby boy Thomas, Edwina shared this adorable photo of the mother-son duo all snuggled up.

“Seen here with his loving Dad, in the arms of his doting mother and shoved into the front seat,” she penned on Instagram.

“Swings and roundabouts, Son xx.”

Edwina simply had to document this moment of pure joy as Molly enjoyed a chocolatey drink.

“But first, coffee,” she joked in June 2022.

“Two whole months of tiny Tom, our adored and slightly sat-on little brother.”

Edwina and Molly played in the autumn leaves while on a weekend getaway to Orange in May.

At the end of the day there’s always time for cuddles with dad.

Thomas is growing so fast, we can’t keep up! His middle name – Donald – was chosen in honour of Neil’s late dad, who passed when Neil was just 16.

Life with a toddler isn’t always easy, no matter how chill your child is, and that’s something Edwina knows well. So, to remind herself that Molly is a dream most of the time, except during that rough spot before dinner, she posted a video of her little one blowing dandelions to remind herself.

“Posting this here so when Molly loses her biscuit at dinner time… I remember what a sweet kid is 98.5% of the time. Please send all toddler tantrum tips my way. I’ll just be here cleaning the spaghetti off the walls,” she wrote.

When Auntie Meggie came to town from London, she bonded with her niece and new nephew to Edwina’s delight.

“Omicron delivered my sister early to Australia. Today, @essingtonlewis heads back to London. A glorious few months ending in the perfect Sydney day in the Botanic Gardens,” she wrote to bid farewell.

Kylie Gillies congratulated Edwina by commenting on her post, “Holding on tight. I’m sure his grip on your hearts is the same ❤️ Welcome to the world Thomas. Xx,” and Mel Doyle shared, “Congratulations!! And welcome to the world, precious Thomas ❤️❤️.”

Molly may have kept her mumma up all night and then slept all afternoon, but the presenter didn’t seem to mind.

Edwina tried her best to get Molly to pose for a Christmas snap, but the toddler had other plans.

We were impatient to see this little family welcome another new addition!

Meanwhile, Molly celebrated her second birthday as 2021 came to an end, Edwina sharing this gorgeous photo from her party.

Edwina told The Weekly her daughter didn’t quite understand she was going to become a sister: “I’m not sure she fully grasps the concept of what’s about to happen.”

Then in 2021 Edwina and Neil shared even more happy news; they were expecting baby number two! Once again, Edwina announced the pregnancy on Sunrise – watch the clip below!

Molly turned one at the end of 2020 and her parents couldn’t have been more delighted by the milestone. At the time, Edwina told TV WEEK of parenthood: “It’s been such a joyful experience, and Molly is such a joy – although, I feel like we got pretty lucky first time around.”

Edwina confessed to Women’s Weekly that there were some challenges in her first months of motherhood, but that she had an “innate sense that what you’re doing must be right because [Molly is] happy, she’s healthy and she’s thriving.”

The proud parents shared regular updates on their little girl, with Edwina heading back to work at Sunrise when Molly was 6 months old.

Edwina explained the meaning behind Molly’s name on Instagram writing: “Molly ’cause we like it. Matilda for Neil’s Great Grandmother. Christie was my Grandmother’s maiden name and my middle name too.”

Baby makes three! Molly Matilda Christie Varcoe arrived on December 13, 2019 and Edwina and Neil couldn’t have been more thrilled to become parents.

The excited mum-to-be spent months showing off her bump, later telling Women’s Weekly that her pregnancy was “brilliant”.

Edwina and Neil wed in 2018 in a stunning and intimate country ceremony on their farm near Mudgee in New South Wales.
