Curtis Stone is known for starring on MasterChef, MKR and Iron Chef and running not one but three restaurants, however he’s also the ultimate family man.

Back in 2009, the chef went on a blind date with actress Lindsay Price and whilst he arrived 15 minutes early, she turned up 45 minutes late. Despite this, Curtis knew he had met the love of his life.

The couple welcomed their first son Hudson in 2011 and the year after, Curtis popped the question in the Italian city of Naples.

In June 2013, Curtis and Lindsay became husband and wife at the five-star Hilton Sa Torre Mallorca Resort in Spain and the following year, their second son Emerson was born.

Curtis’ TV credits may be impressive but he’s dubbed fatherhood the “most important job” and admits it’s “a tough thing” to juggle career and parenting.

“There are swings and roundabouts to it but the key is you’ve got to really enjoy the time when you get it,” he tells Now To Love.

“The good thing for chefs is yes we work long hours and we work late but you also create your own schedule to a certain point. We’ve taken two months off right now to be back in Australia catching up with family and that’s our summer break in the US.

“Arriving home and having dinner with your family, that’s the stuff is hard to miss out on and that’s super hard on my wife. But you’ve got to take the good with the bad and enjoy what you can when you can enjoy it and understand when you’ve got to put the work in as well.”

Whilst the family split their time between the US and Australia, Curtis admits he and his family will most likely be based in LA for now.

“I think Australia will always be my home – there’s no way that will ever feel different,” he says.

“With the exception of the pandemic, I’m very fortunate that I get to come back six, seven, eight times a year which is kind of magic. It makes me feel like I’m an Aussie and a big part of my life is still here.

“For now our kids are in school in the States, my restaurants are there and Lindsay’s an actress so LA is of course the home of her professional world. Lindsay’s mum is there too and there are certain reasons that keep us there for right now but who knows? To be honest we used to talk about it a lot early on in our relationship but now we don’t so much because we think we’ll be where we are meant to be.

“My wife’s a good cook. I joke with her and say she does all the heavy lifting – the weeknight meals for the kids, so to speak – and I swoop in for the bigger events when we have people around or holidays that we’re celebrating. I get all the glory but she does all the hard work,” Curtis tells Now To Love.

In an interview with 9Honey, Curtis revealed the moment on their first date where he believed his wife was “too cool” for him.

“On our first date, she drank a single malt whisky and I drank a glass of rosé and I was a little intimidated by that,” he said. “I wish I had ordered something else.”

And when she denied wanting her drink “on the rocks” but rather made “neat” he thought: “oh hardcore. She’s too cool for me!”
