Last Friday, in honour of International Women’s Day, Barbie took over — and lit up — Sydney’s North Bondi Surf Life Saving Club.
To celebrate the occasion, which also happened to be the eve of Barbie’s 60th birthday, guests including Ita Buttrose — who was recently immortalised as a Barbie as part of Mattel’s 2019 “Shero” collection which pays homage to women who are breaking boundaries around the world — Kate Ritchie, Clementine McVeigh, Anna Polyviou and Katherine Sabbath got to play in a modern-day Barbie Dream house space.
Inside, guests and their families could play dress-ups and learn about Barbie’s ground-breaking heritage over these past 60 years.
