NRL legend Alex McKinnon and his wife Teigan McKinnon have experienced the ultimate joy in welcoming their first baby to the world, and she couldn’t have arrived at a better time.
Taking to Instagram on Monday afternoon, Alex shared two photos of their miracle baby.
In the first picture, Alex and Teigan look overjoyed as the new dad holds his daughter. He captioned the picture: “Happy Anniversary @teiganmckinnon ❤️🌹.”
It seems the new baby arrived just in time for the special day!
Alex also announced his daughter’s stunning name in the caption of a second picture: Harriet Anne McKinnon.
Baby Harriet might be sleepy, but she looks absolutely adorable swaddled in blankets.
The exciting addition marks another milestone for the couple, who experienced the unimaginable in March 2014 when the former Newcastle Knights player was told he would live the rest of his life as an incomplete quadriplegic after fracturing his C4 and C5 vertebrae in a football tackle.
Teigan previously spoke about the harrowing ordeal to Woman’s Day, revealing: “They told us he’d never walk again, he may never breathe on his own and he’ll be in a wheelchair. That was really hard.”
But nothing could stop Alex – when he came out of his induced coma, just three weeks after the near-fatal tackle, he proposed to Teigan.
Since then, the new parents have conquered many hurdles, with Alex fulfilling his wish of standing on his wedding day.
The pair took their vows in the Hunter Valley last year in front of 150 of their nearest and dearest including some of NRL’s biggest names, including Brisbane Broncos captain Darius Boyd who was Alex’s best man.
In March, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together in an Instagram post.
We’re sure little Harriet will be as strong and determined as her inspiring parents – a huge congratulations to the happy couple!
