Greg and Chris: Marriage crisis

The newlyweds are at odds because of his ex-wife Laura refusing to fade into the background…

Greg Norman’s six-month marriage to Chris Evert is already on shaky ground, as the champion golfer’s angry ex-wife Laura Andrassy threatens to come between them.

While Greg has long since moved on from his wife of 25 years, Laura, 58, isn’t ready to let the couple forget the pain and anguish she has endured.

Insiders say Laura has been bombarding Greg and Chris, both 53, with phone calls and has even enlisted some of Greg’s friends and family to help make Greg realise just how much he hurt her.

“Laura’s actions are causing terrific tension in Greg’s marriage to Chrissie,” says an insider. “If Laura isn’t telling people [how she was hurt] then she’s calling Greg, or having friends and family call to say how she was betrayed. There is a great deal of tension and Chris wants it stopped.

“Laura just can’t seem to let go,” reports the insider. “She will stop at nothing to keep the support of those who sided with her and it’s driving Greg and Chrissie mad.”

Despite receiving a reported $158million divorce settlement, sources say the payout has done nothing to keep Laura from interfering in Greg’s life.

“She was supposed to take the money and walk away,” a source close to Chris told Woman’s Day.

Jessica Simpson watches TV… religiously?

From Kabbalah to Scientology, celebrity spirituality often errs on the side of the unusual. But now Jessica Simpson has drawn divine inspiration from… TV?

The Dukes of Hazzard star has told Marie Claire about her keenness to get theological.

“I’ve been contemplating taking a college course in religion. I love religion,” she said.

Jessica’s sudden enthusiasm for faith isn’t the result of her talking to the likes of Madonna, Tom Cruise or even Buddhist Richard Gere. Instead, it’s all thanks to a documentary.

“I remember whenever the book The Da Vinci Code came out, the Discovery Channel did this three-night piece on it that I TiVoed and then watched eight times.”

Perhaps Jessica’s reality TV series Newlyweds inspired someone to study marriage counselling.

Lindsay Lohan under fire for fur again

It seems that not even a flour bomb is enough to make Lindsay Lohan change her spots.

According to The Sun, the actress has been, er, spotted in a leopard-patterned coat in LA. This comes less than a month after LiLo had abuse — and flour — hurtled at her by anti-fur campaigners in Paris.

Lindsay, 22, has made the People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals’s (PETA) worst dressed list this year. Animal rights activists have also dubbed her a “fur hag”.

Another recent fur-offender is Liz Hurley who has copped a serve for signing up as the face of fur company Blackglamma.

Others on PETA’s worst list include Kate Moss, Eva Longoria, Aretha Franklin and Kylie Minogue.

Tony Byrne’s 13-year battle: Finally justice for my daughter

Pictures: David Hahn

For 13 years, since Sydney model Caroline Byrne was found dead beneath the cliffs at The Gap, her family never doubted who killed her. Now Caroline’s father Tony tells of his unwavering conviction that her tragic death hid a darker secret…

Tony Byrne’s eyes glisten as he gazes out over wind-blown cliffs to a rolling sea.

“Justice is a beautiful feeling ? I don’t think words can describe this overwhelming feeling,” he says. “All I could do when I heard the guilty verdict was come outside, look to the sky and give thanks. The truth won out for Caroline.”

It’s taken an exhaustive 13 years for the truth to win out. At last, Gordon Wood, Caroline’s overzealous lover, and personal gofer to disgraced ex-stockbroker Rene Rivkin, is behind bars.

Wood is to be sentenced this week over the bizarre murder that saw him hurl Caroline from The Gap in the black of night on June 7, 1995.

The Gap, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, is a place where people go to jump ? a drop-off point for the depressed and down at heel. Wood hoped his girlfriend’s death would be seen as just another suicide, carried out by a hysterical girl prone to episodes of depression and dramatics.

Tony, 72, has always maintained that the death of Caroline, who at 24 was in the prime of her life, was not “just another suicide” ? despite Wood’s defence team claiming this was what had occurred.

To honour Caroline’s memory, Tony has established the Caroline Byrne Memorial Fund to benefit the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. Donations can be sent to The Child Protection Unit, Locked Bag 5, Randwick, NSW 2031.

Katie Holmes’s lonely hell

Tired and stressed out, Katie Holmes is buckling under the pressure of juggling family and career…

She still has weeks to go on her Broadway run, but Katie Holmes is struggling to cope with her workload and caring for her young daughter Suri alone in New York.

The stress of raising two-year-old Suri single-handedly, together with husband Tom Cruise’s requests that Katie make regular cross-country trips to his side in Hollywood, are taking a toll on the actress.

Usually exuberant, Katie appeared downcast and worn-out as she and Suri left New York’s Gerald Schofield Theater after an evening performance of her play All My Sons last week.

“The lifestyle is incredibly tough on her,” an insider told US magazine The National Enquirer. “All this racing around is killing her. She just can’t keep up this pace much longer. Something is going to have to give.”

The hectic lifestyle of Tom, 46, and Katie, 29, also appears to be playing havoc on Suri. Onlookers report that the normally bubbly toddler appeared tired and grumpy as her mother carried her to a waiting car.

Gordon Ramsay’s cheating scandal: I’m sorry I hurt my wife

Tana vows to stand by her man after the devastated celebrity chef apologises for the grief he’s caused her…

A remorseful Gordon Ramsay has reportedly apologised to his wife Tana, after admitting to her that he met his alleged mistress at least four times.

“I’m so sorry I’ve put Tana through this,” the celebrity chef told a friend, who was quoted in Britain’s Daily Mirror.

“I’ve apologised to her and feel absolutely dreadful. She really doesn’t deserve all this grief,” a contrite Gordon is reported to have said.

When allegations surfaced last week that the TV chef had been having an affair with professional mistress Sarah Symonds for the past seven years, Tana put on a brave face and even went shopping with her husband.

Struggling to keep up a normal life for their four children, Tana, 34, maintained her dignity, telling reporters gathered outside the couple’s lavish London home, “I’m good, thanks for asking”, before taking Megan, 10, twins Jack and Holly, 8, and Matilda, 6, to school in the morning.

Princess Mary: Pregnant again?

Royal watchers expect an announcement as Mary avoids alcohol and pulls on her old pregnancy clothes…

Danish royal observers believe that Princess Mary is set to announce she’s expecting her third child. Photos from her and Prince Frederik’s recent official visit to Thailand show Mary, 36, in a loose-fitting blouse, and onlookers say she kept a protective hand on her stomach as she and Fred, 40, celebrated 150 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“Her body language gave the impression that she was pregnant,” one witness told Woman’s Day.

Royal watchers also noted her wardrobe included outfits she wore during the early stages of her pregnancy with Prince Christian, 3, and Princess Isabella, 17 months.

And it was reported Mary drank only water at a dinner for Denmark’s Olympic athletes earlier this month.
