Wacky weddings

Wacky weddings

This couple brought new meaning to the idea of a fairytale wedding. Jackie Brygel reports.

Shrek fans were green with envy when Tracey and Vivian Williams exchanged vows covered head to toe in body paint, as homage to the world’s most famous ogres.

Avid fans of the hit Shrek movies, Tracey and Vivian saw nothing odd about impersonating the jolly green giant and his love, Princess Fiona, on their big day – right down to the animated movie couple’s trademark ears.

“Our friends always used to say we looked like the characters when we went on nights out,” Tracey happily reveals. “Even though Shrek and Fiona are both green ogres, we didn’t take it offensively because we like them so much.”

IVF twins for Celine Dion

IVF twins for Celine Dion

Twins are in, as the 42-year-old diva joins the growing ranks of Hollywood’s fertility-boosted mums, reports Jackie Brygel.

Ecstatic at the news she is pregnant with twins, Celine Dion last week vowed she’ll do whatever it takes to ensure her bundles of joy arrive safe and well.

The 42-year-old says she’ll even remain in bed to maintain a healthy pregnancy.

But the award-winning singer, who learns the gender of the twins this month, also confesses she’s having trouble keeping her nerves in check as she prays nothing will go wrong following her tragic miscarriage last November, just after the first trimester.

“My doctors had to constantly reassure me,” Celine admits to Le Journal de Montréal. “Each week I had sonograms. I heard their hearts beat.

I do almost nothing,” she says. “If you tell me I have to stay in bed, I will stay in bed until November when the babies are born.”

For, as Celine reminds herself, “To bring them into the world, there’s nothing more important than that. It’s incredible.”

Angelina Jolie’s new cheating claims

Angelina Jolie's new cheating claims

Celebrity biographer Andrew Morton’s claims that Angelina Jolie had secret affairs with six Hollywood stars – including another married man – were revealed for the first time last week.

The previously unknown flings with stars including singer Lenny Kravitz, and actors Ralph Fiennes and Ethan Hawke – who was still married to Uma Thurman, and who denies the rumours – are revealed in a new book by Morton, which paints Ange as a serial cheat who preys on married men.

“Ange and Ethan hooked up while they were shooting Taking Lives in 2003,” one publishing source claimed. “They couldn’t keep their hands to themselves. And they spent plenty of hot nights together.”

It is unknown if Ethan’s actress wife ever heard the rumours about the affair, but Ange’s friends aren’t surprised by the allegations.

“She’s long had a fascination with seducing guys with wives,” a friend told US magazine, Star. “She always told Brad he was the only married man she had been with. If he knew the truth, it would break his heart.”

Weather man Steve Jacobs ties the knot!

Steve Jacobs ties the knot!

Their love story had a stormy start, but it was nothing but clear skies when the popular weather presenters said ‘I do’ in Bali. Clare Rigden writes.

The weather was always going to have its say as Steve Jacobs and his sweetheart Rose Kelly pledged their unshakeable devotion to each other.

The TV weather presenters’ fun-filled nuptials on May 26, and the lead-up, proved it doesn’t matter how much you know about Mother Nature, you can’t control her.

It began with the night Steve, Nine’s popular Today show weatherman, proposed to his girlfriend Rose, a presenter on Foxtel’s Weather Channel.

“It was Rose’s 30th in February last year, and friends had travelled to Coffs Harbour for a party,” Steve explains. “It started pouring with rain at the end of the night. And Rosie said, ‘Come on – let’s run to the beach and dance in the rain’, because this is something we like to do together.”

Off they went, sneaking away from the party to enjoy a moment made just for them, ignoring the wild weather and storm clouds.

“For two weather presenters, you’d think we’d have known better,” Rose laughs.

Sports presenter Lee Furlong marries cricket star Shane Watson

Australia’s golden couple of sport married in a low-key but star- studded ceremony last week.

Stunning Fox Sports presenter Lee Furlong married her cricket hero fiancé Shane Watson at the luxurious, John Singleton-owned Bells at Killcare hotel, on the NSW Central Coast.

The gorgeous couple’s strong family bonds were evident on their special day, with Shane’s father, Bob, as best man and Lee’s mother, Vicki, as bridesmaid.

Tears welled in the pair’s eyes as they exchanged self-penned vows, both declaring to be “partners in crime until the end of time”.

Lee, 24, and Shane, 28, had planned a garden ceremony, but torrential rain forced the wedding party to move indoors.

“It was just too wet,” explains a guest. “They really wanted everyone to enjoy the stunning views, but the grounds were so soaking … they had no choice.”

But Lee, who hosts Fox 8’s Football Superstar, told Woman’s Day she was “very happy with the day”.

Ian Ziering's 90210 wedding" about their marriage

It was a Beverly Hills, 90210 reunion when original cast member Ian Ziering -who played rich kid Steve Sanders on the hit ’90s teen drama – married nurse Erin Ludwig at Newport Beach, California, recently.

Former castmates Jason Priestley, 40, Jennie Garth, 38, and Brian Austin Green, 36, attended the sunset ceremony, which marked Ian’s second marriage. His first, to actress and former Playboy playmate Nikki Schieler, ended in 2002 after five years.

The Jewish service, at the exclusive Pelican Hill Resort, took place beneath a canopy decorated with crystals and white orchids.

Formal proceedings ended with the traditional breaking of the glass. Guests were then treated to cocktails and canapés on the lawn before dinner in the ballroom.

Ian, 46, announced his engagement via Facebook in February this year, after a five-month courtship.

Ernie Dingo’s wife: We have “an understanding” about our marriage

Ernie Dingo's wife says they have "an understanding" about their marriage

TV star Ernie Dingo has been accused of cheating on his wife in a series of damning reports. Now Sally Dingo, his wife of 21 years, writes exclusively for Woman’s Day about their unique marriage deal.

My husband Ernie Dingo first came to notice on television for his naturalness, and the ease with which he presented himself. He was a breath of fresh air.

He is still all that. But I know him to be much more, a complex man – one who has flashes of genius, who is overly generous with his time, is incredibly gifted, endearing and whose rationality takes your breath away.

And yet, he can be infuriating and irrational, and at other times act with utter stupidity, and can then become preoccupied and hide away to recuperate.

But in all these qualities he is not alone. All of it applies in some way to nearly every person. To me, Ernie is summed up in this quote from the Life of Brian, “He’s not the Messiah. He’s just a naughty boy.”

A recent example is when Ernie was asked to bring in some wood for the fire. He thought it easier to cart the wood in one load in the wheelbarrow into the living room, over the carpet.

When discovered, he stood with hands outstretched in confusion, like a character from The Castle, saying “What? What’d I do?” All of which shows he doesn’t always make great decisions. But most of the time, he does.

To read Sally Dingo’s full story, where she talks about their separate lives under the same roof and providing a loving environment for their children, see this week’s Woman’s Day, on sale June 7, 2010.

Sandra Bullock jokes about Jesse James’ infidelity

Sandra Bullock at the 'Guys Choice Awards' L.A.

Sandra Bullock has joked about her marriage breakdown, during her first public appearance since she split from husband Jesse James.

The new mum of adopted son Louis was honoured at the Guys Choice Awards in Los Angeles and spoke about her troubled private life after her husband’s infidelity.

The 44-year-old looked stunning in a figure-hugging black dress as she picked up the Troops’ Choice Award.

She appeared to have no problem attributing her award to the recent attention on her private life.

“Let’s be honest here, just for a moment,” the UK’s Sun reported Bullock said when she collected her award.

“Did I win this for being entertainer of the year, or did I win this because of the spectacular IED [improvised explosive device] explosion that became my personal life?!

“It’s okay. Because I would do it over again if it was to entertain our troops, and our extraordinary troops deserve something much more than some actress in a tight dress talking [about] herself,” she said.

“Having a dad that’s a veteran, I see the sacrifices you made for this country. I’m so lucky every day to wake up having what I have and I thank you guys for that.”

MasterChef’s Jake just misses top 12

MasterChef's Jake just misses top 12

MasterChef‘s latest evictee Jake just missed out on making the top 12! He chats to us about his dream to open a beach seafood stand and his plans to travel.

What is the easiest part about being on a show like this?

I guess it was good not having to worry about the outside world. You just wrap yourself up in this little bubble of MasterChef and don’t think about anything else.

Were there any aspects of the show that you found hard?

I found it hard being away from home for so long but I really enjoyed the actual pressure of the show. When we were cooking I think it was the most enjoyable part. Even though it’s intense at the time when you finish you’re just buzzing.

You were only in two pressure tests in the show?

Yes, the last one wasn’t a pressure test it was the team challenge and then the taste test but I did a pressure test in top 50 for Neil Perry and then I did the Rick Stein one.

Do you think the pressure tests have helped you as a cook?

Oh, definitely, it gives you a real feel for what it is and a sense of urgency in what you’re doing.

Who do you think is going to win the competition?

Jonathan will be hard to beat. He and Marion are definitely the frontrunners, maybe with Adam and Alvin close behind. I think their knowledge is so broad and they’re so quick and meticulous.

Have you been watching much of the show when it plays back on television?

Yeah I have, I’ve watched most of it.

What has it been like seeing yourself on TV?

It was a bit hard to get used to. I didn’t realise I had such an ocker twang [laughs].

Do you think you came across fairly accurately?

Yeah, I guess I did.

What about everyone else?

Yeah, most of the time. A few people come off looking a little bit nastier than they actually are.

I know a few people have said Jonathan comes across as meaner than he actually is.

Yeah, he’s a great bloke and he came across looking like a little bit of a ratbag, which is a shame.

Do you guys all get along?

We all got along really well.

Was there anyone in the house that you were particularly close to?

No-one in particular. I think everyone I got along great with so there’s nobody I could really pinpoint.

What was the most important thing for you in terms of what you learnt on the show?

I guess it taught me a lot about myself and how I perform under pressure and how much I really enjoy food and I definitely want to pursue it.

A lot of the other contestants want to do their own restaurant, but you’ve said your dream is to open a beach seafood stand. Are you taking any further steps to go after that dream?

Yeah, I mean it’s still in the pipeline. I got knocked back on my application.

Was that before the show?

No, it was after but I didn’t actually mention MasterChef.

Do you think it would have helped if you did?

Oh maybe, I want to do it on my own merit rather than using the show. And my girlfriend and I are going travelling so I’ve sort of put everything on hold at the moment to concentrate on that and I’ve been given work experience in some restaurants.

Where are you guys travelling to?

We’re going to South-East Asia for about six weeks and then we’re going to live in Europe for 12 months.

That’ll be amazing. The food is going to be incredible.

Yeah, that’s what I’m looking forward to.
