Is Prince Harry planning a secret escape to New York?

The King's bought a $9.8 million bolthole in New York and it could be a hideaway for Prince Harry.
Loading the player...

When the King’s public relations team quashed reports he’d secretly snapped up a $9.8 million apartment in Manhattan’s Billionaires’ Row in July, the story quickly disappeared.

But last week, murmurings of the million-dollar hideaway resurfaced again, begging the question, why is King Charles so at pains to keep the purchase a secret? With rumours flying it could be to do with his son Prince Harry and his struggling marriage to wife Meghan Markle.

It’s certainly not unusual for the British royal family to own property in other countries, which are often used as official residences for Commonwealth consulates, and this could be the reason for Charles’ purchase.

Indeed, at the time of her death in 2022 it was reported the late Queen Elizabeth II had amassed an impressive real estate portfolio in the American city with 24 residences across Manhattan.

PRINCE HARRY’S HIDEAWAY

But another growing theory is that the King, 75, could’ve bought the property as an olive branch of sorts for his son Prince Harry, 39, while he navigates difficulties in his marriage to Duchess Meghan.

“There’s no doubt a big change is going on for Harry and Meghan. Everything they do, everything they try, rarely does it work out how they want it and the cracks have been showing for some time.

“This isn’t just about their awkward body language, he’s not a skilled actor like her and he can’t hide his discomfort with how things are. Harry’s not the first Brit to become disillusioned with California, so it’s no surprise to hear he’s looking for an exit,” shares the royal insider.

OPERATION BRING PRINCE HARRY IN FROM THE COLD

The UK media is abuzz with reports that the duke is turning away from Hollywood publicists and reaching out to “seek counsel from his old friends and associates”, as he makes plans to end his US exile, with his old friends said to be plotting operation “Bring Harry in From The Cold”.

“He is clearly reaching out thinking, ‘I need to do something different because what I’m doing is clearly not working.’ In short, he is rethinking the way he operates,” a source told Mail On Sunday, amid claims that Harry feels he has lost his way and dislikes being overshadowed by Meghan, 43, in public.

According to The Sun’s royal reporter, Meghan took centrestage during their recent visits to Nigeria and Colombia.

“Harry looked a little bit grumpy… he perhaps looked a bit like ‘the spare’.”

IS THIS THE END?

Our source adds, “Harry’s simply looking for a change, which is why it’s no coincidence we’re hearing King Charles has bought a bolthole in New York.

“It’s halfway between London and Montecito and gives him a base away from Meghan and her minions,” our source spills.

“Harry’s going to New York this month, so it will be interesting to see where he actually stays.

“If Charles has bought this pad to give Harry some space, don’t be surprised if he arrives with more suitcases than he leaves with. It’s possible he’ll be setting it up as an escape option should things get tough with Meghan.”

EXCLUSIVE: Aussie diver Sam Fricker dishes on his career aspirations

He’s eyeing the 2028 Olympics.

Sam Fricker isn’t just an athlete, he’s also made a name for himself as a media personality too.

The 22-year-old may have just missed out on qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics, but he’s not done yet. Sam spoke to Now To Love about what’s next for him.

Having represented Australia in diving at both the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, it’s safe to say Sam Fricker knows a thing or two about high performance sport.

He’s been diving since he was 10 years old, and his love of the sport has translated onto his social media pages and solidified his status as a certified influencer.

With training, competing, commentating, and media commitments – including recording his very own podcast, Diving Deep – Sam has a jam-packed schedule, but it’s all worth it because he loves what he does.

“I get into a good rhythm because I enjoy every aspect of what I do. Otherwise, I just wouldn’t be doing it. I find it’s easy to be productive in my work [because I enjoy it],” the 22-year-old told Now To Love.

He prioritises his diving over all else because his goal one day is to win an Olympic medal. Considering he’s so young, he’s hopeful he has a long career ahead of him.

“We just had the [2026] Commonwealth Games announced to be in Glasgow, so I’ll be pushing towards that. My goal is to pick up a medal in Glasgow and then try to fulfil my final dream in diving, which is to win an Olympic medal, hopefully in LA,” he shared.

For the meantime, Sam will be sticking to his strict training routine, while still exploring the abundance of media opportunities presented to him.

One of which being to appear on an episode of The Inspired Unemployed’s (Impractical) Jokers series.

His episode sees him compete against a Joker, Dom, in the New South Wales diving championship. Dom attempts the exact dives Sam does, which include skills such as forward somersaults, twists, pikes, and a daunting reverse dive.

Speaking on his experience working with the Inspired Unemployed boys, Sam said, “It was great fun, especially to bring them into my arena. [It was] a great show of character because diving typically puts you right on the edge of your [comfort] zone.

“All the boys just got up and especially Dom just gave it an absolute go, which I think shows a really good, positive, strong character more than anything because when it comes to dealing with fear, I feel like you find out a lot about people.”

Sam Fricker’s episode of The Inspired Unemployed (Impractical) Jokers airs on Wednesday 11 September at 8.30pm on 10 and 10Play.

Meet Maddy and Charlotte – the sisters entering The Block five weeks into the 2024 season

They’re officially taking over for Jesse and Paige.
Loading the player...

Jesse and Paige’s early exit from The Block 2024 prompted many questions from both viewers and contestants alike, with the main one being: who will replace them?

It has officially been revealed that Sydney sisters Maddy and Charlotte will be taking over the renovations for house one!

As the youngest contestants to ever appear on The Block, Maddy, 24, and Charlotte, 22, are set to shake up the show, and their arrival hasn’t necessarily been exciting for everyone.

Kylie in particular is not happy about them joining the show, and isn’t making an effort to get to know them. But, that’s not going to stop the sisters from bringing their all.

They arrived on The Block 24 hours after they were given the call up, and are ready to shake up the competition.

Maddy and Charlotte are actually very experienced renovators, and have bought and flipped quite a few properties. Most notably, they previously renovated a 1950s cottage in regional New South Wales that they named Millie.

They’ve been hard workers their whole lives, and started saving to buy a house when they were just five years old.

Maddy and Charlotte’s birthday money combined with their income from jobs including McDonald’s and babysitting put them in a good spot financially, and meant they were able to purchase their first property in 2020, when they were just 18 and 20 years old.

But their experience is a secret weapon that they’re keeping hidden from their fellow Blockheads in the hopes that they’ll underestimate them.

The young Sydneysiders are also no strangers to the camera, as they have previously documented some of their renovations on social media under the name Wise Property.

The Block 2024 Maddy and Charlotte are Jesse and Paige's replacement.

The now-22 and 24-year-old aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty and will do as much work as they can themselves to hopefully save some money.

Picking up from where Jesse and Paige left off won’t be an easy task, but the sisters are up for any challenge that comes their way.

So, will they be able to keep up and compete with their fellow contestants? Only time will tell…

MasterChef alumni Tommy Pham welcomes TWO new babies into the world

A son and a cookbook.
Loading the player...

Beloved MasterChef alumni Tommy Pham has been busy to say the least. Not only has he welcomed a brand new baby boy to his brood in August, but he’s also launched a new children’s cookbook!

Feeling a bit sleep deprived but overjoyed, the dad-of-three tells Woman’s Day that everything’s “amazing”.

“It’s amazing. I kind of forgot how much sleep you lose. It’s insane. But we’re tracking along – feeding, sleeping, eating, making sure everyone’s healthy and clean,” he laughs.

“We’re just trying to fit everything into the short amount of time in a day. But the other two are amazing brothers, so that really helps.”

Miles and Hugo are excellent big brothers. (Image: Instagram)

Miles, 4, and Hugo, 2, have been a big help with their new baby brother, who Tommy admits still doesn’t have a name.

“We have two boys already, and it’s like we’ve used all our good names!” he explains. “Apparently, we have eight weeks though.”

In the meantime, Miles and Hugo have generously offered up potential names for their baby brother. “They obviously suggest their best friends’ names because those are the only names they know,” he laughs.

“Then there are silly ones like Spiderman. So not helpful in that sense.”

TODDLER TUMMIES COOKBOOK

Tommy’s kids are a big fan of these rainbow frittatas. (Image: Supplied)

His boys were a huge source of inspiration when partnering with Alula Advance+ Toddler to launch this new cookbook called Alula Toddler Tummies Cookbook, which is completely free of charge.

More than a passion project to share his creative recipes and help busy parents in the kitchen, Tommy was inspired to help raise awareness about the importance of prebiotics in digestive health and overall toddler wellbeing.

A national survey reveals that the majority of Aussie toddler parents (74%) admit they could do more to support their toddler’s nutritional intake.

Even more, only 19% of Aussie parents feel very confident that they know the role of prebiotics in their toddler’s diet.

When asked what prevented them from serving a nutritious meal to their toddler, 1-in-5 (21%) toddler parents claimed not to have enough information and almost half (44%) attributed lack of creativity or inspiration in the kitchen as a factor.

KID-APPROVED RECIPES

Boosting your children’s nutrition is easy with Tommy’s new cookbook. (Image: Supplied)

Leaning on Tommy’s experience in cooking for young children, each recipe in the new Alula Toddler Tummies Cookbook aims to inspire Aussie parents in the kitchen to create healthy meals and snacks.

The recipes are “fun, quick and easy to make”. Importantly, they’re also “full of toddler-approved flavours”.

“Miles loves the recipes. One of the boys’ favourite recipes is the rainbow fritters,” he shares.

“It’s crispy, fun and uses up all the vegetables in your refrigerator, so it’s a great way to clean out the fridge while getting veggies in your kids. Then the dip is made from cashews and Alula Toddler milk, making it full of prebiotics.

“Any food they can hold and feel in their hand and make a little bit of a mess with is always a winner.”

Even better, the cookbook is perfect for busy parents – something he can definitely relate to! “The recipes can be easily batch-cooked or meal-prepped for when life gets busy,” he says. That means mum and dad get more time back in their day to spend time with friends and catch-up.

Julie Goodwin came right over to meet Tommy’s newest addition. (Image: Instagram)

Julie Goodwin is a good friend of Tommy’s and an “uncle” to his children. “When I was filming my second season of MasterChef, Miles was with me. And for some reason, he called Julie, ‘Uncle Julie’, And then it just stuck from there. It’s the best nickname,” he laughs, before sharing the close bond he and Julie share.

“It can be hard to kind of keep up with all your friends. But Julie is one of those people where I can just message her or call her, and it’ll be like no time has passed.

“I love Julie. She’s just such a lovely person and someone you’d want in your life.”

GET YOUR FREE COPY

Often parents are overwhelmed when it comes to knowing how to best support their toddler’s digestive health. But Tommy says that it can be as easy as including prebiotic-rich foods like bananas, oats and apples – and having the kiddos help out in the kitchen.

“The more you get them into the kitchen, the more they can touch and feel their food, the more likely they are to try different things. Even if it’s the tiniest bit, that’s something.”

The free cookbook features a variety of recipes, including delicious snacks and meals spanning breakfast, lunch and dinner.

And Tommy nods to his heritage through the flavours and ingredients used, serving up gut-boosting noodles, frittatas and gnocchi alongside smoothies, muffins and pancakes.

The Alula Toddler Tummies Cookbook is now available for all to access and download for free here

But in his own home, the 50-year-old is a devoted husband and father. Meet his wife and family!

Colin Fassnidge has been with his wife, Jane Hyland, since 2000 and their meeting is straight out of a romantic comedy.

The Irish-born celebrity chef was working in Sydney’s EST restaurant while Jane, also Irish, was the venue’s assistant manager at the time.

“We were both here on a working holiday at the time. It was just prior to the Olympics, so it was a good time to be in Sydney,” Jane told New Idea of their  first meeting.

“I don’t know what Colin’s first impressions of me were, but I thought he talked a lot!”

They didn’t have an instant connection, and actually butted heads for a while.

“She was tough,” Colin told the Australian Women’s Weekly, adding that they frequently shouted at one another.

“Not a good thing when you’re trying to chat her up, but I was born on knockbacks,” he admitted.

They eventually overcame their rift and realised just how perfect they really were for each other after being set up on a date by their boss.

Their shared love of and interest in food bonded them together and things progressed quickly between the couple.

“We were both into food, so it went well,” Colin told New Idea. “It became serious within about six months.”

A few years later, on 8 January 2006, Colin and Jane tied the knot in a stunning Sydney ceremony overlooking Watson’s Bay.

They have since welcomed two beautiful daughters together.

Colin and Jane’s eldest daughter Lily was born in 2009 and is now 14 years old, while their youngest, Maeve, was born two years later and is currently 12.

“I love being a dad,” the 50-year-old told TV WEEK in an exclusive interview. “I think it calmed me down. When I had kids, I was like, ‘You know what? It’s not all about you.’ Especially in my house. Nothing is about me.”

Colin often shares insights into his family life via his Instagram page, where he uploads photos and videos with his wife and children. The Fassnidges are always creating beautiful new memories together!

How Andy Lee popped the question to Rebecca Harding after ten beautiful years together

So when is the wedding?

After ten beautiful years together, 2024 Gold Logie nominee Andy Lee and Rebecca Harding shared the happy news of the engagement.

In May, Andy took to Instagram to share photos of the couple in a loving embrace, while Rebecca showed off her brand-new accessory.

Andy and Rebecca are overjoyed.
(Credit: Instagram)

“People keep saying we’ve rushed into this but we don’t care what people say! 💍” Andy joked.

The pair first met in 2014 in a cafe in Melbourne where Rebecca was working as a waitress. It has been a long-running joke between fans as to when Andy would ‘finally’ propose to his long-term girlfriend.

Unfortunately for curious fans, Rebecca won’t be walking down the aisle anytime soon. While speaking on KIIS FM’s The Kyle and Jackie O Show, Andy revealed the newly engaged couple haven’t had time to plan their wedding given they are currently renovating a $8.5 million historic mansion in Melbourne.

“[The wedding] is something we have not discussed at all,” Andy confessed. “We tried to start it, but I think it bounces between, let’s have everyone there and have a massive party. Then we look at the cost of that and the fact that we’re trying to finish the house.

“We’re like, ‘oh, maybe we’ll just sneak away by ourselves.’ But it won’t be any time soon, though.”

At the time of Andy’s engagement, the comedian shared the intimate details of the proposal – including how it paid homage to their first meeting – on his podcast with best friend Hamish Blake.

“I asked Bec to marry me on Sunday,” he began.

“When I was down there, I stayed on one knee and I gave her another napkin – because when I first met her at the café, I wrote on a napkin my details – and I gave her another napkin.”

Hamish revealed he and wife, Zoe Foster Blake were both “crying” with joy following Andy’s announcement.

They weren’t the only friends overjoyed for the newly engaged couple, as many flooded Andy and Rebecca’s Instagram post with love in the comment section.

“Congrats hunnies 😍” The Block’s Sharon Johal wrote.

Brooke Boney commented: “Congratulations legends ❤❤❤”

“Congrats love birds ❤️” radio host Fitzy wrote.

Reese Witherspoon and Ava Phillippe’s cutest mother-daughter twinning moments

''You literally birthed yourself!''
Loading the player...

Reese Witherspoon has lived what feels like nine lives, ever since she first graced the big screen as a teenager.

Since then, we’ve seen Reese grow up onscreen, as a young woman in films like Pleasantville, Cruel Intentions and Legally Blonde, and we later witnessed her second career renaissance through big projects like Wild, Big Little Lies and The Morning Show, alongside Jennifer Aniston.

And through it all, the 48-year-old has been mother to her three children – Ava and Deacon Phillippe, whom she co-parents with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, and her youngest son Tennessee, with second husband and Hollywood agent Jim Toth.

“I’ve been a mum since 1999. I got pregnant [with daughter Ava] when I was 22 and delivered when I was 23,” the actress and producer revealed on her Reese Witherspoon x Hello Sunshine YouTube page last September.

“To be totally honest, it was scary. I was scared. I didn’t know what it was going to do to my job or my career.”

Reese has also been completely honest about the struggles she has faced as a working parent, juggling her career and her high profile divorce from Phillippe in 2006.

“I find having little kids is more physical and it’s just really hard on your body. So I am glad that I had kids kind of young. I had one at 23, one at 27 and then again at 37. And, oh, my God, having a baby at 37 was so much harder,” she admitted.

“This is just me being real.”

She says her “entire life” changed when she first became a mother to Ava, who is now 25 years old.
