So in an effort to teach her daughter a lesson about self-respect and the importance of online privacy, Val decided to make her 13-year-old film a shameful confession to her Facebook friends.

“Tell them you’re 13 and you still have a bed time,” Val said to her very emotional daughter, before adding: “Tell them you still watch the Disney channel!”

Val shared the video to her personal Facebook page and it has since gone viral being viewed over 12 million times.

“So you’re 13, we’ve established in the last few seconds that you’re not a freak, that you don’t sit at home with your bra on, you don’t wear makeup, you don’t take pictures like that, you don’t have no lace panties,” she told her daughter.

The clip ends with Val explaining that her young teen will spend the entire summer grounded.

Although the video has received huge support, with some people labelling her “mother of the year,” it has also been met with harsh criticism.

“Punishment is something you do PRIVATE not for everyone to see watch that poor girl is gonna get bullied because of her own blood,” one Facebook user fumed.

Following the controversial video Val took to social media again to send a message to her supporters.

“I wanted mothers and fathers to be aware and how important it is to be aware of what your child is doing,” she said.

Val also addressed those who criticised her: “I want you to understand that I am her mother before anything else, I’m not her friend… my job is to raise her and sometimes that takes a little bit of tough love.”

She continued: “I’m a single mother, I’m on my own in this and it’s a struggle every single day… and I’m trying my best with this little girl and she’s gonna understand and respect me for it later,” she added.
