The 2015 American Music Awards has wrapped up for another year but not without a barrage of very memorable moments.
The coveted award ceremony not only brought out phenomenal performances (including an almost awkward run-in with exes Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber), the occasional wardrobe malfunction, finished off with a splash of indoor rain.
Some of the event’s highlights included performances by Justin Bieber, a duet with Demi Lovato and nineties grunge queen, Alanis Morissette, a surprise pash involving the gal who is all about the bass, Meghan Trainor, and One Direction. The night also took a poignant turn when powerhouse singer, Celine Dion sang a emotional tribute to Paris.
But the evening wouldn’t have been the same without the enchanting Jennifer Lopez, who played host for the night, and her turntable of costume changes.
Prepare for sheer opulence and crazy Hollywood antics as we check out the most memorable moments from the 2015 American Music Awards
Jennifer Lopez AKA Queen Jenny from the block hosted the 2015 American Music Awards.
The 46-year-old was clearly waiting for tonight, armed with a bevy of fabulous outfits. Seriously. Miss Lopez has the threads.
One thing was clear, Jennifer Lopez was the 2015 AMA’s golden girl.
The seasoned performer opened the show with a medley of 2015’s hottest hits that segued from Mark Ronson’s Uptown Funk to Nicki Minaj’s Anaconda, Beyoncé’s 7/11 to The Weeknd’s Can’t Feel My Face, Taylor Swift’s Bad Blood to Drake’s Hotline Bling. And you can’t have a medley without at least one curious wardrobe malfunction… Check it out in the next slide
Backup dancer’s bum move
The evening defintely was an ode to the nineties with Alanis Morissette belting out her 1995 classic, You Oughta Know with Demi Lovato. And of course there was Prince, who was presenting and, well, being optimal levels of Prince.
Speaking of nineties goals, the reunion the world has been waiting for… Clueless stars Alicia Silverstone and Jeremy Sisto were together again for the music award ceremony. The duo who played the teen flick’s Cher and Elton, introduced a performance from Gwen Stefani. “One of the many many great things in the movie was this young, up-and-coming band No Doubt, and their song Just a Girl, Jeremy said before introducing Gwen and her latest track, Used to Love You.
Celine Dion performed a powerful tribute to those who lost their lives during the Paris shootings with a poignant cover of Edith Piaf’s Hymne a L’Amour. There wasn’t a dry eye in the room.
Justin Bieber is back… and we are not sorry! The singer – who dropped his fourth studio album, Purpose, this month – closed out the show by singing his songs Where Are U Now, What Do You Mean?, and Sorry – all while drenched with an indoor rain cloud.
Biebs wasn’t the only singer sharing their heartbreak through song. His ex, Selena Gomez had no time for old love and Gwen Stefani was all kinds of emotional.
But it wasn’t all heartbreak. What’s an award ceremony without a pash… Cue Meghan Trainor and Charlie Puth. The pair left audiences stunned when they ended their Marvin Gaye duet with a full-on makeout session.
We don’t know what shocked us more… Ariana Grande being really sweet (to be fair, she was with her adorable nana!) OR Kylie Jenner opting for a natural red carpet look!
Speaking of looks, Kendall was bang on with her new fringe. While Gigi Hadid had us all bobbing for her new sleek hair do. Also you need to check out Gigi’s epic shade towards Harry Styles in the next slide!
