We're off to the Oprah house!

These five women can’t believe they’ve won tickets to see their idol Oprah Winfrey.

Looking at their beaming smiles and listening to their constant chatter, you’d think these five excited women were lottery winners. They’re not, but they have won something money can’t buy – tickets to see Oprah Winfrey.

“It’s like winning the golden ticket in the Willy Wonka competition,” trills Denise Hodgson, 53, from NSW. Along with Christine Downing, Sharon Bentley, Anita Berkett and Donna McGuire, Denise is at the Woman’s Day studio in Sydney to celebrate their windfall.

The enthusiasm in the studio is contagious: voices tumble over each other as the women excitedly recount the exact moment they realised they’d be among the lucky few to be at the Sydney Opera House when Oprah tapes her two Australian specials on December 14.

“I was so excited,” squeals Christine, 42, from NSW. “I made about 10 phone calls – nobody understood what I said!” Her sister Sharon, 43, is the lucky “plus one” on her sibling’s invite. “I thought there had been an accident, she was so hysterical!” she laughs.

“I thought it was a hoax!” reveals Donna. “I read every single word about 10 times.” For Sunshine Coast mum Anita, 42 – who excitedly re-enacts how she jumped up and down yelling “I’ve won! I’ve won!” when she heard the news – winning tickets was an emotional moment. The bakery manager credits Oprah with turning her life around.
