Abby is a four-year-old leukaemia patient who got to marry the man of her dreams this week.
When nurse Matt Hickling of Melodies Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders heard from Abby’s mother that her daughter was excited to come to treatment because she was “marrying” him he decided to surprise Abby with a shotgun ceremony.
Working together the staff at the New York clinic sprang into action to bring a smile to the little girl’s face.
Abby’s mother walked her down the aisle to meet her groom who was decked out in a tuxedo t-shirt.
Abby ran to Matt and hugged him when she figured out what was going on and took charge of the ceremony asking her crush: “Will you marry me?”
“Of course I will marry you,” Matt responded and the pair sealed the deal with ring pops and some cake.
Hospital staff and patients played guests and hummed “Here comes the bride” for the adorable ceremony.
