Christie Lambourne was making dinner for her family when she noticed something strange: a 2cm piece of metal sticking out of a chicken nugget!

The mum-of-four from rural Victoria usually makes her own nuggets but decided to buy a pack as a special treat for her daughter Alexis’s sixth birthday.

But she instantly wished she had never bought the Farmhouse nuggets as one of the crumbed pieces of chicken had a 2cm piece of metal jutting out.

“I don’t know what it was – it looks like a staple but is as thick as a nail and was a U shape,” Christine told Kidspot

“I noticed it as I was putting them on the oven tray, thankfully nobody bit into it.”

Christine contacted Aldi and the store manager believed the metal most likely had come off one of the machines.

“That kind of scared me because how did they not notice a piece of machinery missing??”

The investigation into what actually happened could take between four-to-six weeks.

“What happens if another family isn’t as lucky as I was before they feed a contaminated nugget to their child?”
