Michael Hoskin couldn’t have planned his proposal better – after all, he had been thinking about this day for four years, ever since he saw his beloved girlfriend Turia Pitt clinging to life in hospital after sustaining horrific bushfire burns during her now infamous ultra-marathon.
He tells the Australian Women’s Weekly that he purchased a diamond ring for her then and there – when he wasn’t even sure if she was going to survive.
Fast-forward to 2015 and 27-year-old Turia, and her miraculous recovery from burns to more than 60 per cent of her body, has captured the heart of the nation – not to mention Michael’s!
So he wasn’t leaving his proposal to chance. Meticulously planning every moment, he asked Turia to be his wife while they were cruising the crystal clear waters of the Maldives.
“I’m so overwhelmed with love at the moment,” the bride to be tells the August issue of The Weekly, on sale tomorrow. “It’s an incredible feeling. Michael’s my life partner. I’ve known that for years. We’ve talked about that for as long as I can remember, and it still came as a surprise.”
Congratulations to the happy couple!
