Elijah Cook is one very special little boy. He was born profoundly deaf in his left ear, and able to only hear 75 decibels in his right ear.
That is, up until this week when he was fitted with his very first tiny hearing aids.
The touching moment this beautiful nine-week-old boy heard his mother speak for the first time was captured on film. He breaks out into the loveliest smile, trying to take in sound — including the ones he can make on his own– for the first time.
In a blog post for the Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota, his mother Ahavah wrote, “The first time I saw him blink, I had a lot of emotions. I was trying really hard not to cry. I didn’t want him to see my cry. I was trying hard to keep it together and just talk to him.”
We’re trying hard to keep it together too. We wish Elijah a wonderful life, filled with the gift of sound.
