A devoted Italian boyfriend has adorably recreated a scene from the Notebook to pop the question to his beloved.
It might seem hard to think of anything more romantic than The Notebook – the epic movie starring Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling – except, perhaps, a Notebook-themed proposal!
While on holiday in London together, Angelo Piccini took the opportunity to pop the question to his girlfriend Chiara Grimaldi whose all-time favourite movie is – you guessed it, The Notebook.
With the assistance of some “romance planners” Angelo hired out a lake at London’s Alexandra Palace and took his future wife on a rowboat ride, just as Rachel and Ryan’s characters Noah and Allie do in the movie.
Angelo also had the lake’s surface decorated with hundreds of paper origami swans in place of the birds floating on the water in the movie. He had a few other romantic touches too like a bouquet of flowers, surprise cocktails, and an acoustic guitar strumming by the lake.
The scene from The Notebook that Angelo lovingly recreated
While the unsuspecting Chiara is distracted by all these little touches, her friends and family pop out of hiding holding a series of signs that read: “You are the one. Chiara, will you marry me?”
When he then pulled the engagement ring out of his pocket, Angelo said: “I’ve tried to recreate a dream for you. When we are together, everything is possible. Together everything is doable.”
“I did this because when I met you one year ago, more or less, my life changed. Everything became more beautiful and after so much time, I fell overwhelmingly in love.”
Naww, how romantic! We’re very jealous and wish the couple all the very best for their future life together!
