Nothing resonates with Australians more than reading a captivating real life story. Whether it be a tale of triumph over adversity, a love rat or a tragic incident, we love to empathise with people brave enough to put their experience out there.
Which is why the inimitable Take 5 magazine took the prestigious ‘Publish Award for Excellence’ at last night’s Mumbrella Publish Awards 2017.
The true life magazine impressed judges with its “growth strategies and audience advocacy”.
Take 5 has launched some incredibly worthy initiatives in recent months like their campaign to strengthen Apprehended Violence Orders (AVOs).
They also made inspiring young breast cancer campaigner Laura Wood their cover girl.
And we couldn’t unsee WSFM’s Brendan ‘Jonesy’ Jones in this interesting spread when he became Take 5’s ‘Hottest Radio Hunk’.
We also have to mention some of their absolutely off-the-wall cover lines…
Take 5 editor-in-chief Paul Merrill told the audience “Print is in ascendancy” as he accepted the accolade. “I’m thrilled for the team that we were recognised in such a spectacular and unexpected way,” Merrill continued.
“I’m very lucky to work with such a talented and passionate bunch of people who are always looking for exciting new ideas and designs to try to keep Take 5 fresh and surprising. That said, there are a few sore heads this morning, so any brainstorming might not be as productive as we’d like.”
Cheers to that!
Take 5 was also named Consumer Publication of the Year.
Huge congrats to the Take 5 team – you can check out more of their stories in their online home on Now to Love.
