When 17 year-old Aslan fled his home in Damascus, Syria, he took barely anything with him.
Carrying only a tiny backpack, he traveled with his best friend- a little Husky puppy named Rose- for 500 kilometres on foot to reach safety in Greece.
After being told he must leave the puppy behind Aslan made her a passport, and put her in a carry case in hope of getting his friend through the border on the Greek island of Lesbos.
When the United Nations Refugee Agency asked him why he wouldn’t leave his dog, he answered “I love this dog, I need him,” reports 9 News.
