Rapist Brock Turner is scheduled to be released from prison on Friday after having served just half of his six month sentence.
The former Stanford University student began serving his sentence in June after he was convicted of three counts of sexual assault after he attacked an unconscious woman behind a dumpster after a party.
The Cut reports the Santa Clara County’s Department of Corrections website indicated 21-year-old Turner will walk out of prison on September 2 – presumably for ‘good behaviour’.
Turner’s controversial case ignited widespread public outrage when prosecutors had asked for six years punishment but Judge Aaron Persky only handed down 6 months – a sentence many felt was far too lenient for the convicted rapist.
Last week Persky asked to be removed from all criminal cases and there is a campaign to unseat the judge all together which is being led by Stanford law professor Michelle Dauber.
