Single mum advertises for someone to adopt her for Christmas

Her and her three-year-old son now have plans for days!

A Canadian mum of two has been overwhelmed by hundreds of responses to her Craigslist advertisement asking for her and her three-year-old son to be invited over for Christmas lunch, reports Kidspot.

Not wanting to spend another Christmas alone, Autumn Aviva-Keshet Mazzitelli, decided to reach out to see if anyone would be willing to spend the day with her.

“Have you always wanted a daughter and grandson? Do you have a daughter and/or grandson but they live too far away to return for Christmas this year? Do you need a hand with dishes after sharing Christmas dinner with a (slightly?) eccentric 30-year-old single mother?” Autumn wrote.

“If you’ve answered yes to any of the above questions, look no further, you’ve found the perfect solution!”

Autumn goes on to explain she moved to Victoria, British Columbia this year, and that her seven-year-old daughter was going to spend the holidays with her father, as she does every year.

“I have spent the last few Christmases alone,” Autumn said. “The year my son was born was the hardest – he was one month old and since I had chosen to have him solo, I didn’t have a partner around and I wasn’t quite well enough to leave the house.

“The year he turned one I reached out, but last year, when he turned two, my plans fell through and I ended up resorting to frozen pizza.”

Not wanting to repeat that fate, Autumn finished her ad by writing, “Worst case scenario: you don’t think my son is cute and I’m way under or overdressed and the wine I bring tastes awful and it’s awkward and I try to help cook and I ruin the food – but at least it’s memorable.

“Best case scenario: we have a blast…and it changes the way humans do this whole Christmas thing, people talk about this crazy thing we did and they too start to share their love and… in time there would be far less lonely hearts on Christmas.”

The ad, which has since been taken down, received hundreds of responses and invitations.

“[We will spend] Christmas eve with a large family and then Christmas morning with an elderly man who is spending Christmas alone because he has no family around,” Autumn revealed.

“After that I am going to a community dinner, then I will head out of town to visit a couple of women who have recently lost their husbands. Boxing Day I’m going to spend with a firefighter! He and his wife have invited us over.”

A merry Christmas, indeed!
