Last week California mother Sherri Papini was found on the side of a road beaten, chained, with a bag over her head.
The 34-year-old had been abducted for more than three weeks and reunited with her family on Thanksgiving morning.
The details of who took her and why are still unclear but this week her husband, Keith Papini gave his first TV interview and revealed some of the horrors his wife had to endure before being released.
Mr Papini is due to appear on ABC’s 20/20 and in a preview he spoke in graphic detail about how his wife’s captors dumped her badly beaten body on a roadside and how she struggled to wave down help.
“She screamed so much, she said she was coughing up blood from the screaming, trying to get someone to stop,” Mr Papini said of how drivers kept passing her by. “Again, just another sign of how my wife is, she’s so wonderful. She says maybe people aren’t stopping because I have a chain, it looks like I broke out of prison, so she tried to tuck in her chain under the clothes.”
In police interviews since her release the mother-of-two has alleged to detectives that her abductors were two women who spoke Spanish most of the time and concealed their faces from her.
The investigation continues.
