The so-called “sex-ring” was described as having “tentacles that go around the world” and are accused of grooming whole families, including the parents of a child who was not yet born, to gain unsupervised access to children.

The seven men, aged between 30 and 51, habitually targeted children under five in Yorkshire and the south-east and south west of UK but concealed their sordid exploits behind a façade of social decency with respectable jobs and families.

The gang, which the police described as “monsters in disguise”, included three convicted sex offenders and two of the men in the gang, John Denham, 49, and Matthew Stansfield, 34 have already been convicted of their involvement in the ring by the Bristol crown court.

Denham, formerly known as Benjamin Harrop was convicted of conspiracy to rape a child under 13, and making/possessing indecent images of children while Stansfield was convicted of two charges of conspiracy to rape a child under 13.

The others Robin Hollyson, 30; Christopher Knight, 35; Adam Toms, 33; David Harsley, 51, and Matthew Lisk, 32 all pleaded guilty earlier to the charges they faced, reports the Gurdian.

During his prosecution of Denham and Stansfield Robert Davies told the court: “This prosecution will take you into a world you wished did not exist. The evidence exposes the shocking interest a group of men had in sexually abusing babies, toddlers or pre-school children.”
