Meet Nicola Robinson. She’s the self-described “nutrition mermaid” with an affinity for activated almonds, following the Paleo Way and now, celebrating dogs menstrual cycles.
Oh and she’s also Pete Evans’ fiancée.
The Queensland-based Kiwi glamour model decided to take to Instagram on Tuesday to share a snap of herself and her poodle announcing the pup’s first period.
According to the Daily Mail the 38-year-old captioned the shot: “My Mummy is doing a good job at looking after me during my very first ‘moon time!”
“She’s going to teach me how to sync my cycle with the Moon too!”
Now if you are wondering what Nicola is on about, according to astrological enthusiasts the moon supposedly plays a significant role in the menstrual cycle.
Menstrual-moonbeam believers cite the 1980 study, Lunar and Menstrual Phase Locking by Winnifred B. Cutler. The paper, published in the American Journal of Obstetrics & Gynaecology, found that in a cohort of 312 women, 40 per cent of the participant’s menstruation began within two weeks of the full moon. But that means 60 per cent of women’s cycles didn’t. And in the 35 years since no other science has backed up the links between the moon and menstruation.
But the soon-to-be Mrs Evans is well-versed in espousing bizarre ideology online – she regularly refers to her body as an “Earth Suit” – and is reportedly one of the biggest influencers on the My Kitchen Rules star’s evangelical approach to his Paleo path.
In his book Going Paleo, Pete says, “I can remember Nic was sitting next to me reading [Primal Body, Primal Mind by Nora Gedgaudas] one night and I felt a sudden jab in my ribs … She had this look in her eye and I knew she had stumbled onto something powerful.”
While Nicola appears to be an animal lover with chickens, horses and other critters littering her social posts, we’re not sure how she is going to be able to use spirit-science to tune her dog’s period to the moon cycle. We hope she keeps us posted online.
