NSW mother charged with murder of daughter

A NSW mother has been charged with the murder of her daughter Leonie Hutchinson who disappeared in 2001

A mother from rural NSW is facing court over allegedly murdering her baby daughter more than 15 years ago.

Kate Hutchinson, 43 was arrested at her Evans Head home by detectives from Strike Force Kahuna.

Authorities have been investigating the disappearance of little Leonie Astra Hutchinson since 2004.

Leonie was believed to have disappeared from her home in Scone sometime around January 2001, when she was 16 months old.

However, she was not reported missing for three years. Authorities allege Leonie was in fact murdered by her mother.

Mrs Hutchinson will face court in Lismore.
