New Zealand couple to welcome fourth set of twins in five years

Smashing New Zealand records, Emma and Loma have three sets of twins - with another set on the way.

Imagine having given birth to a set of twins, two beautiful girls. Then, when you fall pregnant once more, your doctor informs you that you are expecting yet another set of twins – two more girls. And another after that – twins again, girls again. And then, just when you thought you were done, you go to the doctor and they say those words.

‘You’re expecting twins’. Again.

Loma and Emma Uhila do not have to imagine. That unimaginable hypothetical is their reality.

Loma and Emma, from Auckland, New Zealand, are due to welcome their fourth set of twins, in five years. Bumping up their kid count to nine under the age of seven.

After welcoming their first born son, Micah, in 2008, Emma became pregnant with their first set of twins in 2010, girls named Ava and Lily. Isla and Eden followed their sisters in 2011, and Emma and Indie were born in 2013.

And now, Emma and Loma are set to welcome another set of twins, due in July.

According to mum, the twins, who were all conceived naturally, were “surprise babies”.

“Micah was 11 months old when we found out we were expecting our first set of twins. I was in complete shock because we had no twins on either side of our families. From there it was all on and life became normal with three under three at home. The second set of twins arrived a year and four days later,” Emma told Let’s Porse, “[And then] we were almost expecting [the third set], so I got an early eight-week scan and sure enough it was happening again, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. They were all surprise babies but good surprises. It’s crazy chaos but good fun at the same time.”

And no, twins do not run in their family.
