Mercedes Corby, the older sister of convicted drug smuggler Schapelle, has appeared in a NSW court today facing an AVO.

Police applied for the apprehended violence order on behalf of the 42-year-old’s long-time friend Trudy Todd, who she opened a Gold Coast tapas restaurant with mid-2016.

However, things obviously went pear-shaped since the grand opening of Laneway Bar and Dining in Coolangatta, with former pro-surfer Trudy filing a complaint with Police against Mercedes.

Both appeared on opposing sides of the court today and will provide witness statements before the matter returns on February 19.

Mercedes returned to Australia from Bali in 2015 after living there for 10 years on and off to support Schapelle.

Mercedes opened the restaurant to help rebuild Schapelle’s life when she returns to Australia. The 39-year-old currently remains in Bali, a condition of her parole.
