Malia Obama was spotted kissing a new boyfriend last year, and are we the only ones who felt like an overprotective relative? Albeit a slightly distant one.

The eldest daughter of former US President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama was spotted in an affectionate embrace with her new beau at a college football game after party, celebrating a game between her school, Harvard, and Yale University.

Three months on and the couple still continue to look adorable and loved up, spotted in New York laughing together last weekend.

19-year-old Malia’s boyfriend has since been identified as Rory Farquharson, a fellow Harvard student.

See Rory pictured far left.

According to reports from the DailyMail, Rory Farquharson is originally from the UK where he attended Rugby School, one of England’s most prestigious schools, where he was also selected as selected Head of School.

Hmm, well okay, this all sounds pretty decent.

Here proud parents Michelle and Barack can be seen at the beginning of their journey in the public eye with their tiny daughters, Sasha and Malia.

Malia, who turned 19 on the 4th of July is now studying law at Harvard University, following in the footsteps of her mum and dad.

Malia has also expressed an interest in filmmaking, previously interning with projects that included Steven Spielberg, Lena Dunham and more recently, disgraced Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein.

She’s certainly going to be a woman to watch, no matter what path she chooses.

You’d better be kind to her, Rory or you’ll have quite a few people to answer to.
