Steven Avery, made a household name from Netflix’s Making a Murderer documentary series, is set to get hitched for the second time.
The 54-year-old has found love with Lynn Hartmann, a Las Vegas legal secretary, who he has been reportedly dating for around eight months.
While the happy couple have mostly corresponded with letters and phone calls, they only met in person for the first time last week when the pretty blonde stopped by the Waupun Correctional Institute, Wisconsin, where Steven has been situated for the last 11 years.
“She’s going to be my future wife. We’ll be laughing forever,” the convicted murderer told The Daily Mail.
“I’m happy. She treats me decent, she loves me. She’s kind of spoiling me right now. I just want to be happy and enjoy my life. I think I did enough time.”
A now-deleted statement from the bride-to-be also appeared on the Steven Avery Project Facebook page, confirming that they plan to tie the knot on his release.
“I am very happy to announce that Steven Avery asked me to marry him today, and I accepted. It has been a difficult road getting to this point in our lives but we are very happy,” the 53-year-old said.
“Despite all obstacles, and Steven’s wrongful conviction and incarceration, we plan to be married shortly after he is released.”
Steven Avery was sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2005 murder of 25-year-old Teresa Halbach, who disappeared on Halloween after travelling to the Avery salvage yard to shoot a photo for a car magazine.
His nephew, then 16-year-old Brandan Dassey, was also convicted and sentenced to life behind bars.
Last month a major breakthrough came for the now 26-year-old Brendan when Judge William E. Duffin overturned his life sentence. He is now set to walk free within 60 days.
Before his latest conviction, Steven wrongfully spent 18 years in prison for a crime that was later proven by DNA to have had nothing to do with him.
Much like his first stint in the correctional facility, the Manitowoc County local has fiercely maintained his innocence.
The captivating Making a Murderer series was recorded over 10 years by filmmakers Moira Demos and Laura Ricciardi before its release in December 2015.
Earlier this year, Netflix confirmed a second season of was in the works, however an air date has yet to be confirmed.
