Lisa Wilkinson’s twitter campaign to save all the notes for Sydney Siege victims’ families, has gone viral.
The TODAY host took to twitter this morning saying: “The #savethenotes idea is 2 have all messages attached 2 #sydneysiege flowers collected nxt week & put into bound books 4 affected families”.
The touching sentiment went viral within four hours, with the hashtag trending across the nationally with Australians showing their support for the #savethenotes campaign.

Lisa tweeted this to her followers: “Please join our #savethenotes campaign to ensure beautiful msgs on the #SydneySiege flowers are kept 4 the families.”

Lisa didn’t stop there. One of her twitter followers, Jess Gordon @OfficiallyGordo was really touched by Lisa’s idea.
Jess, who lives in Melbourne tweeted Lisa that she didn’t know how to participate and would be happy to transfer the money to someone, “@Lisa_Wilkinson if I put money into a some1’s (sic) account, would some1 be willing to purchase flowers for me. I live in Melb & feel helpless”.
Lisa rushed to her aid and offered to pay for the flowers and place a note on her behalf.
“Dont worry about the money @OfficiallyGordo I’ll get them & place them there for you. What do u want on the note? #savethenotes #sydneysiege”.
Sydney siege comes to dramatic end
The City of Sydney got behind the TODAY host’s efforts and took to twitter to show their support, advising everyone that they will be saving all of the notes.

This isn’t the first positive viral campaign to come out the horrible events that took place in Sydney. The campaign follows the #illridewithyou hashtag that went viral across the globe in the last two days, as Australia rallied together in a show of support for the Muslim community.
