JonBenet Ramsey’s brother Burke Ramsey plans to sue CBS over a documentary that suggests the beauty queen was killed by him, says the Ramsey family lawyer.
Attorney L. Lin Wood said The Case of JonBenet Ramsey documentary which aired this week contained “lies, misrepresentations, distortions and omissions”, reports Reuters.
“I will be filing a lawsuit on behalf of Burke Ramsey,” Wood told Reuters in a telephone interview.
“CBS’ false and unprofessional attacks on this young man are disgusting and revolting.”
The network responded to Wood in a statement to Reuters: “CBS stands by the broadcast and will do so in court.”
Burke Ramsey was only nine when his sister was found dead in the basement of the family home in Boulder, Colorado, home on Christmas Day in 1996.
The 20-year-old cold case has always raised public suspicion that the Ramsey family staged an abduction to cover up the six-year-old’s death.
Burke Ramsey, now 29, sat down with Dr Phil earlier this month for his first ever interview and said no Ramsey family member was to blame.
Burke said the public pointing their fingers at him, his mother Patsy and his father John Ramsey “blows my mind.”
In 2008, the three were officially cleared by prosecutors who said that DNA found on the girl’s underwear didn’t match anyone in the Ramsey household.
